Early Access Review
Caves of Qud is perhaps my favorite game of all time. Qud being the first true rogue-like title I had ever played, my initial reaction after buying it on a whim and dying after a very confusing minute was "This will probably require a bit of effort to learn." It took me about two months after that first death to pick the game up again and decide to figure it out. What hooked me in and made me want to uncover what the game offered was the unique and interesting character creation menu. While new to rogue-likes I had plenty of experience in table top gaming, and the parts of the game I had figured out reminded me of my time spent with d&d. With that initial hook I then rolled character after character throwing myself into the meat grinder of Qud, learning a little more each time. I doubt I'll ever play a game that provides me a similar feeling of discovery and challenge.

OMG, same! The character creation is SO good, it feels like a real RPG. Qud is definitely not for everyone, but if you're into rogue-likes and want a real challenge, it's the best!
