the "mid october patch" has now released as of 11/2/2023, promising "100+" bug fixes and bringing such groundbreaking and game fixing changes as:

Added pre-order and edition specific items to everyone
Players can now not turn the camera during the full tased effect
Fixed so the tutorial scroll box is scrollable the second time you open a tutorial popup
Fixed a minor typo in the loadout section
Added ability for players to review the EULA again after creating their accounts
Added a button prompt showing how to exit the safe cracking mini-game

and many more similarly meaningless changes. 40+ days from launch for this. avoid like the plague, maybe it'll be a mediocre game in a year

incredible gameplay polish for a game made by a single dev. this is the first of their games i've played, but it'll be far from the last. absolutely pick this up, this is absolutely worth 5$ (i'd pay $20)

It's a cute, enjoyable experience worth the money. Gorgeous graphics, barely present story (mainly interpretive, heavily reliant on outside studying of lore), solid controls, unique enemy and level design, and a gimmicky "merchant" system make this game a good enough pick if you're looking for a game to play, but don't want to sink your life into something. Expect a 10-15 hour experience if you don't rush through intentionally.

A spectacular reboot for a promising concept. The developers put their hearts and souls into this game, and it really shows. Just about everything that people complained about in the initial release has either been entirely reworked or tweaked to have more counter-play for either role. The scavengers in the previous release of the game had to make team plays throughout the entire match in order to win, and the kill sequence was slow and boring for the hunter; in this release, scavengers have a reasonable level of self-sustain and the frankly stupid kill-sequence has been completely removed from the game. If you're a scav that dies early on in the game, the queue times are good enough to throw you right back into a match within a minute.

The gameplay loop is a little bit stale, but rewarding; characters have upgrades that can be unlocked by in-game currencies (all of which are 100% obtainable by playing the game) that improve their abilities. In order to unlock these upgrades, you need to perform certain challenges in-game (i.e. survive 3 chases, travel 100 meters while revealed, etc.) Scavengers have 6 unique perks, 2 of which they can use at a time, 1 starting ability and 1 ability that can be unlocked through aforementioned currencies, and 2 unique character benefits (i.e. Fog damages structures faster, Sawbones sprints faster, etc.). This little layer of customization can change your play-style quite a bit and is pretty appealing, imo.

Overall, I'm very happy with how the devs handled the failed initial launch, and I hope that this rendition of the game brings them the reward they deserve for their hard work.

Very fun game, especially if you can get a talented captain / play with friends. Biggest downside I'd have to point out is severe lack of US servers. I live in midwestern USA and there are <5 servers that consistently have below 50 ping. It's a serious issue but I'm sure the devs will work on it soon enough :D

got this forever ago when I bought my old GPU, used to be borderline unplayable bc of optimization but it's one of the best games in the Arkham series in terms of mechanics and gameplay. definitely worth a try if you enjoy the Arkham games (and a pretty good introduction to them if you're unfamiliar)
