Early Access Review
I absolutely recommend this game with a big asterisk.
*If it has been >90 days without a patch or some kind of dev announcement and the game hasn't been taken out of Early Access, I declare this review null and void.

Establish proper expectations going into this and you will have a truly unique and rewarding experience beyond just playing the game. You will likely feel some real ownership and being a part of the game and community as a whole.

Playing the game as it is, you'll run into bugs, and likely hit a point where you go, "I really wish this was released." And then you'll probably step away for a month or two... Then after noticing an announcement about a big update, you'll dive back in. Those frustrations you previously encountered are probably still fresh in your mind, so you'll not only notice when those things get fixed, but you'll get this sweet little endorphin release that causes you to actually value and appreciate that it got fixed. Now, you're starting to enjoy the things you had previously done a month before even that much more. Plus getting to really notice and enjoy those little things that get added as they go along. Then the cycle takes hold...

During those times when you aren't playing, you might start reading up on the forums, or dev notes. Maybe even keeping tabs on the mod community and planning out what you're going to get into the next time you dive in. Eventually, the game gets an official release... But really, it was already out, this was just the point that everyone else jumps in and it becomes "mainstream" and you'll probably hear some complaints about certain bugs or issues... But you hear those complaints, and scoff, because you know "yeah, those things happen, but there's this workaround for x, and an awesome mod that fixes y." But in reality, you didn't even notice those comments because you were too busy sharing your custom built control console after teaching yourself electrical engineering because you saw someone else make one.

This is the experience that'll come from getting into KSP2 now... And if you think that sounds a little too fantasical to believe, ask someone that picked up the original KSP or Minecraft at the start and still plays today to compare what I've expressed.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go back to wiring up the LED's in my control console.

Finally, the DLC we really wanted. While I appreciate what went into the Making History Expansion, I feel like it really didn't add much to the base game at all; however, that all changed with Breaking Ground. It really went a long way to add some much needed flavor into the stock parts. While mods are still the main backbone that makes this game so much fun, it's nice to have an improved assortment of parts that you know won't break (most of the time) whenever the game gets updated.

Little bit of a learning curve, but if you take the time to figure it out, and read up on the wiki and what not... You'll really find it's got a lot to offer, and I think there's actually a good deal of extra joy that comes from finally figuring it out one step at a time. The first time you get in orbit, the first time you hit the moon, the first time you land without crashing on the moon... Et cetera.

Amazing game, it's almost like an interactive movie! Worth it and then some.

Rare to find a good game these days with good writing. Up there with Mirror's Edge.
