You shouldn't play it. The fundamental mechanic of the game is to trick your monkey brain into thinking it's productive by setting yourself a goal, like clicking the same rock 2,000 times, then releasing dopamine once you achieve your set goal.

The game offers nothing more than this. <25% of the time spent you actually do unique or interesting content, the other 75%< you spend clicking the same thing over and over again for your arbitrary numbers.

I know this sounds similar to the old "games are a waste of time" argument, but here it's actually true. You can get the same feeling of productivity and dopamine hit from doing anything else, alongside results for what you're doing. If you go to the gym, you get stronger, even other games like playing a strategy game makes you smarter, any hobby will develop you to do the hobby better ALONGSIDE with your feeling of productivity.

RuneScape does nothing more than act as a sink for your productivity and time, making you less successful in your life. This is why most players of this game are unhappy, because they are unhappy with their lives as they aren't achieving anything in them, and are using this game as a coping mechanism to feel productive.

I feel like every RuneScape player knows this instinctually, but are either in denial or simply don't care and are fine with making their life stale for RuneScape's easy dopamine rushes. Hell, it took me over 25,000 hours to come to this conclusion.

Furthermore, Jagex is a god-awful company and trusting any amount of your life to them is an absolute mistake.
