lots of fun, crashes are a bit annoying but im sure will be worked out in patches

edit: yeah ok, the crashes are actually really bad. one of them almost made me have to restart my pc it hardcrashed so bad. this is just more of a bug report than an opinion but its important to know these things when buyign a game.

otherwise, if youre looking to do nothing for an hour or two and beat people like the ape you always hoped to be, this is your game

Not a review but a thank you for sticking with us for the last 3-4 years in making Subnautica the best thing it can be and even more with plans to have more updates in the future. The game is amazing, and I'm very glad I spent my my money on this while it was in EA. Hope I see you guys make this game into something worth while and that you gain a huge success from it!

Once again, thanks for sticking with us and being great developers!

*EDITTED FOR FACT CORRECTION*
Please somebody just put this thing out of it's misery.

It's been through development hell for the past 6 years, with it releasing back in 2013 as a standalone video game. However, the game has had it's flaws ever since the dawning of it's premiere in 2012. It's running on the world's most unoptimized, stiff and obscuredly outdated engine; it's causing so much trouble for the Devs.

Speaking of those guys, the development hell I said earlier was seriously no joke. They spent a large amount of time trying to simply get this game running on this engine, then Dean Hall (the creator of the original mod and now game designer) got so frustrated with working on this he decided to do two things: Remove the zombies because the engine can't pathfind at all (which is why zombies always are sperging out) and immediately head for Mt Everest as a way to relax (Dead serious, go google this if you don't believe me). Dean Hall returned from Mt Everest with even more problems back at base and simply just resigned from the project all together.

If that crapshot of a story wasn't enough for you, let me list out some other things that will want you to steer away:
- Game deals with massive loss of playerbase
- You won't get anywhere in this game alone compared to the old 2010 mod
- Infact, the game has turned into a deathmatch where there is no risk once you get weapons.
- The only risk factor to this is spending a good 2-3 hours finding more weapons.
- The risk to THAT however is dying to the alpha bugs still left in the game because the Dev Team wishes to focus more on adding cosmetics and cars before fixing their buggy game.

--- This is never coming out of alpha, and I will tell you why. EA games aren't refundable until they get released OR they are completely, and I mean COMPLETELY, dead (no updates, no news for abotu a year, nada). The best things for these devs to continue making money is to put no effort in updates* and supply reskinned t-shirts or weapons.

*A reminder that this game has been out for 4 years now and there is a list of all the updates that have appeared in the game: http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Development

For your sake, please do not buy this game. I have not had a single hour of enjoyment from when I first bought it and I only figured it'd get better through the hours I'd put into it.

6 years ago, I posted this review on the mod. Originally, my opinion was a solid No, and that was because at the time, there was a conversation about whether or not people should play this as their first Deus Ex playthrough. Obviously, my opinion has changed since then, and I think players who experience this will find themselves enjoying it potentially more than the original due to the amount of TLC this mod has received over the span of a decade.

However, I think overtime, the developers have learned to accept the criticisms from the players and not only have continued to support this mod with new features, but have also found ways to rework and rebuild a lot of the flaws it had when I first played it way back when. Not to say all of these have been for the best mind you, but I will say that a majority of the decisions made here I do agree with and have been much more satisfied with the end product this time around.

To start, I appreciate the developers for keeping the vanilla game intact, and providing a way for people to enjoy a bug free, vanilla fresh run of one of the greatest games of all time. I think playing Deus Ex now without any sort of mods is just a shot in the foot for user enjoyment. Other than that, the actual mod's content contains many different game settings that create a whole new way to experience the game, with details such as mechanics from the later games like Human Revolution implemented or the developers creating their own set of rules that have a very nice tailored dynamic. There's many options for multiple playthroughs, and I can tell the developers wanted to make sure people had the option to enjoy Deus Ex the best way the player feels fit.

The one and only complaint about this mod (and to preface, I'm not entirely sure if it's an option that you can disable, if so please correct me), is the small little world building details they throw in. One may ask themselves why I would complain about something that only helps serve to layer out the world of Deus Ex, but honestly, there are some things thrown in that completely throw me out of my immersion. Right off the bat, the "Meme War" article on the public terminal in UNATCO H.Q. was pretty cringe. While I understand that they want to do what the original did and throw real world connections in the game, I feel like instances like that are the wrong way to do it and only go against what they're trying to serve.

Otherwise, the developers have redeemed themselves to me, not only by correcting the issues I had previously mentioned in my old review, but by going even further beyond and giving this the proper TLC to make sure it's the definitive experience everyone has been wanting from Deus Ex for a long time, cause Square Enix sure as hell has not done anything right by the IP.

I really liked L.A. Noire as a game, not really as a story though. People will say the acting is complete ♥♥♥♥ *cough* YourMovieSucks *cough*, but I can easily defend the game's acting because of how it was directed.

-Background and Concept-

Man, was this one hell of a game to direct, people were using a certain type of motion capture to detect facial expressions. That sounds so wierd on paper, but they do it incredibly well. The actors do an astonishing job in making the game seem lively and immersive with their actions and responses. Now, maybe some aren't entirely good, but the majority are doing a bad reaction either on purpose or trying to trick the player. Unfortunately, I don't think the budget was well with the company considering they filed for bankrupcy only a few months after release. Either way, the acting was pretty good and the concept was innovative in every way.

-Gameplay-

The game is great with it's gameplay, as I said before, the idea is innovative and it carries out well. Even though this review is about 4 years late, the game does hold up and still is as innovative as it can be. In those years, this game uses motion capture to expand past immersion and into facial recognition. I'm stating this in here because you need to understand this game uses the motion capture incredibly well and that you need to be reading people's expressions to figure out if they are lying or not. For example, a man is going to try to say he's telling the truth but says it with a very sarcastic, dragged out "Nooo..." along with a shaking head. If you read the man carefully, it's obvious he's lying. This may not be the case for others though, as people throughout the game can get difficult as you try to figure out cases.

-Story-

Alright, as the game has this incredible thing going for it in the whole motion capture thing, it's story really brings it down. Since you are a detective, you'd think you'd learn this actual backstory on Cole and his partners, but really you get a few crumby flashbacks and that's it for Cole. Cole's partners are pretty crap too, cause all they are are just really uninteresting characters who are only there for a chapter until you get promoted. *The only thing they have going for them are these personalities which I guess makes up for it, but it still doesn't help the end game in anyway.

*Something to note is that I haven't completed this game before, and thus, I have not a clue what happens in the last few cases.
