2. Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add the butter or oil and allow it to melt and coat the pan evenly
3. Pour the beaten eggs into the heated pan, ensuring that they spread evenly across the surface
4. As the eggs start to cook, gently push the cooked edges towards the center using a spatula. Tilt the pan to allow the uncooked eggs to flow to the edges. Repeat this process until the majority of the eggs are cooked but still slightly runny on top.
5. If desired, sprinkle your chosen fillings onto one side of the omelette
6. Using the spatula, carefully fold one side of the omelette over the filling to create a half-moon shape
7. Allow the omelette to cook for another minute or so, until the cheese melts (if using) and the filling heats through
8. Slide the omelette onto a plate and serveimmediately
