I went in to this with my usual passion for story-based walking sims...and had them horribly dashed. Red flags started to pop when you get the first note and it's a 10 page novel in pompous philosophy. That, tied with slow movement and lack of interaction with the world around you, just make it soooooo boring.

I made it to the end of the game through perseverance alone. The only positive was the nice looking environments, but that's the Unreal engine for you.

After a long Kickstarter development period (and hyping this game to everyone I knew), A Hat in Time finally came out - and it was even better than I expected! This game is cute, fun, and captures my favorite things from childhood titles. Movement is smooth, the worlds are interesting, and characters are over-the-top! On top of that, the developer is on top of bugs and supporting modders for custom levels! This game definitely falls into my top ten favorites!

Having played almost the entire LEGO game series, this is the worst title in the series...even compared to a few of the older titles that didn't age well (looking at you Star Wars). In a lot of ways, it feels like this game cut corners for a cash grab. All but one cutscene is straight from the movie, the overworld is small and had few puzzles, there are bugs and optimization issue everywhere, and the game is rather short at only 15 levels and half the usual minikits to find per level. I spent a lot more time bored in this one than usual...too little to go back and find in each level, plus trotting slowly from the teleport to each level didn't help.

That said, I enjoyed my time in typical LEGO game fashion and the additional voice lines were good. Overall, I'd say pick it up on sale if your a fan of the series, and start with another title if you want to try the series out (I'd recommend Harry Potter or Jurassic Park personally). For those of you who like numbers, this one is maybe a 5 out of 10.

This game is consistently on my top 5 games of all-time list. The world is so rich and full of little lore nuggets. The stealth is well-done, even if it's lacking in dark powers. The characters are interesting and lively. It's just such a nice package of a game!

It's been a long time since I was so dissappointed with a point-and-click game. THe animations take forever and the story is virtually non-existant. It took about an hour to finish but I wanted it to end sooner. I've played better flash point-and-click games free on the Internet.

This was just not worth my time or money.

Although it only took me a few hours to play through, I thoroughly enjoyed this game. The characters are memberable, the environment incredibly detailed in a steampunk Alice in Wonderland style, and the music is superb. The main mechanic of the game - switching between physical 3D space and shadows 2D space is well done and an interesting mechanic to spend the game time fully wrapping your head around. Controller support is well mapped, if you prefer it.

Save for a single annoying puzzle, I definitely recommend this for any platformer or story-based game fan.

So this is literally "Kill It with Fire" the video game. It's more widget than video game, but fun and an interesting story nonetheless. I'd recommend it for those who want a bit of stress relief and just want to watch the world burn.
