The game is fun, but the required connection to Epic is off putting.

A shame the devs never continued the franchise, there was definitely good potential here.

Obviously taking a page straight out of Frictional Games' Amnesia installments, Lethe has you figure out the story you're walking through using notes placed throughout the levels, often in reverse order to create the sense of reading some ill-fated predecessor's memoirs.
This in itself is not a problem, however it becomes tedious when there is no dialogue to complement the storytelling. You've got to read every note yourself, and besides the note there is never any dialogue.

The lack of dialogue is great for the quiet, abandoned mine atmosphere, but doesn't do the storytelling part of the game much good, which is very important for an episodic game.

The world itself felt erratic and random, the further you progressed. It rotated between early 1900s mine, to late 1990s horror hospital, to medieval dungeons, to what looked like a Christian cult.
The story bears no rhyme or reason to this erratically changing environment, making it seem like the developers themselves didn't really know where they wanted to take the story.

An introduction to a horror franchise with good potential, but sadly fell flat and seems to be abandoned by the developers.

I saw this game pop up on YouTube earlier today.
It looked good, I picked up MTB'ing again IRL, which sparked my curiosity for this game.

Some people complain about the tutorials, I didn't even get to the end of those before quitting over the janky controls.
Bikes and snowmobiles are way too snappy, and the ride feels way too arcadey.
I wasn't expecting a full-realism simulator, but even then this was bad.

Besides that, the game itself seemed to stutter constantly, which is rich considering my PC should be well up to the task.
This stutter also seemed to cancel the keycombo's required for backflips, spins and such.

Long story short; quit over horrid controls before getting to be annoyed at bad voice acting and lengthy tutorial.

I wanted to like this game, and I tried. I tried harder and harder to suffer the god awful streaming service, for episodes with mediocre acting at the best of times.

The game itself had some flaws, if you touch the wrong thing during a "stutter" you die instantly, forcing you to restart an entire area and all the encounters in it.

The shooter mechanics are meh, and they seemed to just not have paid any attention to making aiming and moving feel natural on mouse and keyboard. But again, I suffered through all of it, hoping the cliche-laden yet somewhat compelling story would make it worth it. Spoiler alert, it didn't.

I get to the big battle, of which the introduction is so astoundingly underwhelming it doesn't even feel like it is the big battle (maybe there's another, bigger
battle
afterwards). All the hours of playing, ignoring the many misses of what is all in all just a disappointing effort, come down to one big fight in which the lacking controls and clearly on-mark bullets not even hitting have caused me to die over 10 times now, because the animation for the character to turn around and run in a different direction took too long to get away from enemy gunfire.

I've used up all my patience trying to get through this, seeing past all the issues to see the end of the game. But I'm done, I've had it. I may play it again with a controller sometime to see if that works better.

A disappointing game with a compelling story that perhaps would've been more interesting if it had been just a TV show.

Cannot recommend it enough. Four hours in and the story already has me hooked.
There are points at which mouse/keyboard controls feel clunky (it is still a port from what was originally a PlayStation exclusive), but Guerilla have done a good enough job to make it playable on a PC (a controller, should you have one, remains recommended).

There are very little other well-known titles out there to compare Horizon to. The closest I can think of is The Last of Us, purely based on the post-apocalyptic setting and great story-telling (we don't talk about TLoU2).

It has a very doom-and-gloom yet not too far-fetched storyline of "machines taking over". Guerilla has taken the ever more increasing reliance on technology, turned it to an extreme and turned it into this idea of our own technology and obsession with automation and robotics becoming our downfall and setting us back to the stone age. And they've done it well, extremely well.

10/10 bought on PS4 originally and would gift to people again.

Had this game sitting on my HDD for a while, decided to give it a whirl.

First deathmatch I joined, 10-0 within 5 minutes of playing 1v1 against a lasergun which apparently didn't even need to hit to one-shot me.

Terrible, unbalanced and no community to back it up. 1/10
