Picked this one up in the collection pack for $20 recently (all of them ever made up to this one) and decided to hop right into this one.

I've gotta say that it's a major league improvement over any of the past titles in the series by leaps and bounds. Lara quite literally gets beat to pieces in this one and you get to actually see and experience each and every bit of that along the way. I've gotta tell you--it gets very brutal in some places if you aren't used to violence in games by now. She wades through muck, mire, and even blood at one point all while gathering bits of it all over her since that would naturally happen to anyone else if placed in those real-life environments. And about those environments: they are pain-stakingly beautiful and rich--even if some were a bit too gruesome for my taste.

The puzzles in this game are interesting but once you get used to solving them they actually get quite predictable since there's only so many ways to present the same thing over and over again. I even found myself locating all of the treasures and relics along the way the first time through the game--instead of backtracking over previously explored territory (was I supposed to do that?). Probably the most frustrating aspect of the game is the quick-action events (or whatever the game called them, ugh) that often end up punishing you with some brutal death-scene rather than allowing you any adequate amount of time to accomplish anything. So, you end up repeating a short section of the game until you get it just right.

All in all this is a much-needed step in the right direction for the Lara Croft/Tomb Raider series and I hope she has many more successful games in this franchise left in her before she sees retirement! ;-p

Definitely a unique take on the RTS genre, to be fair though, I've only played a little bit of the intro Beta campaign so far. I do like what I have seen so far--I can't wait to progress more, and I would highly recommend this game to anyone that is a fan of RTS games.

Recently there have been a number of the "build a base in stages, build an army, and defend--repeat"-type games on the market. This is yet another one of those games. Granted, the cutscenes and some of the dialogue are kind-of cutesy and diverting in a way, but it's all stuff we've heard before from other places just reused here without credit even being given. If you're looking for a slightly different take on the tower-defense/town-defense but in a military-ish type setting then this might be the thing for you. Suffice it to say, I was hoping for so much more from this game when I first fired it up a while back--it just didn't hold my interest long enough to stay in my library very long.

Very fun addition to the Lego series of games and definitely a win-win all around. I especially enjoy the fact that they actually attempt to capture each of the character's personalities and replicate them in this game (mostly from the movies they've been in of course) but everyone's dream-take on every character isn't going to be here of course. It's an awesome game for adults to burn some solo-play time on and it will even hold the attention of any parent with a careful eye out for what they put in front of the eyes (and ears) of their kids. There's also a few hidden nuggets (as in all Lego games that have come before) for all those players willing to go the extra mile and actually find each and every last thing in the game. Keep up the great work TT games and I'm sure players (and fans) will happily keep shelling out the bucks...
