This game plays somewhat like a dark, gritty version of the Sims, but it's the atmosphere that completely sells me on it. Not many games completely immerse me the way TWOM does, but everything from the dialogue, to the real faces, to the intense and challenging moral decisions make this a real winner for me.

Also the randomness of it all adds volumes to the replay factor. Pick this one up as soon as you get the chance, but don't expect to forget it anytime soon.

I really wanted to be able to recommend this game, but there are several reasons that leave me unable.

The game starts incredibly strong, and had me hooked from the first 10 minutes. I could hardly wait to see what lay around each corner, both in the woods and in the story. The tension and suspense kept building, and I got more and more excited for a major twist or big event, which sadly never came.

Yes, the game could've been longer. My favorite moments were before the story was pieced together, so it would've been nice to draw that out a bit. The character building and voice acting were tremendous, and the game should've taken more advantage of that, especially if story-changing decisions were allowed. I don't mind the whole walking simulator thing, as long as the game doesn't fail to engage me emotionally, which it did, until about three quarters of the way through. All in all, the game isn't worth $20, which is sad because with some more effort put into the story, it certainly could've been. It came depressingly close to being what I thought it was, and began to love it for.

As addicting as it is grind heavy. I played Grav for a couple weeks nearly non-stop, and for a while it seemed worth it. The problem is, you find yourself killing the same types of monsters over and over and over again. The crafting of gates / weapons and exploration of other planets is pretty satisfying, but I would think that there weould be different types of creatures on various planets, rather than the same ones everywhere you go.

Despite the game's shortcomings, the landscapes are atmospheric and stunning, and if I had friends to play with, the grind would've been far more enjoyable. Bottom line, pick it up if it's on sale and you have some time to kill, otherwise there are probably better games to spend your momey and time on.
