I've definitely come around on this game playing it after the 2.0 patch. The moment-to-moment gameplay used to be kind of boring, but the addition of air dashes and other cool new abilities have greatly improved it. Progressing a character is much more interesting than it used to be. Storywise, many of the sidequests are worthwhile and the main story has some ups and downs but ends with a satisfying conclusion.

Have not played the highly regarded expansion, Phantom Liberty, but even still I would recommend the base game.

One note that if you like unlocking achievements, they seemed to break when I continued off my pre-2.0 save. So start a new game.
