There's a LOT of potential for this one. While at first glance, it seems to be yet another mascot horror FNaF inspired game (and it technically is), it's setting and tone provide an opportunity to really stand out and become a whole unique experience.

To the creators, who have poured so much passion into this project;

You guys really made something special here with this first chapter of the game. The graphics are fantastic, the environments are super well done, the opening act of the story is intriguing, and the entire first chapter is super well done! However, if I am to make one small suggestion to make this games future an absolutely outstanding one; try to avoid mascot horror tropes.

The first chapter of this game is essentially your average mascot horror game intro; arrive at place, you were related to it, monster occasionally shows a limb or two of itself here and there, monster eventually reveals itself in a large chase sequence, monster dies at the end of the chase, next monster teased. While there's nothing definitively wrong with this, it has become a repetitive and quite frankly predictable trope that can be seen miles away by anyone who has played several mascot horror titles. So my simple suggestion is to create entirely new cool spooky and thrilling moments, some that even the most proud mascot horror veterans couldn't see coming. Originality is absolutely a key factor into contributing to a completely unique experience, and Indigo Park has absolutely made a fantastic first impression on me and from the looks of it, the entire community.

I wish the devs the best of look and I am looking forward to chapter 2!

I'm a sucker for Valve titles and fan-made spin offs, so a new Half Life/Portal experience is always something I look forward too. And this mod, while not being perfect, was just what I needed after the long gap between this and Entropy Zero: 2.

Portal Revolutions presentation is exceptional and tremendous in every way. The game starts off with a simple "Hello test subject! Begin testing!" and slowly evolves into a story as you progress. While it's story, attention to background detail, and setting are absolutely tremendous, as I said before, it's not perfect.

I always tell myself, and everyone I meet that likes Portal the same thing; "Every good Portal game needs a good story." The Portal series is FILLED with tons of lore, dark secrets, and tragic events in its history taking place in the same universe with the Half Life. The story of Portal: Revolution 100% delivered. It was a fairly simple story and did not contradict with any Portal/Half Life canon, respecting the original titles as needed. However, despite it's story being quite a treat, it feels like a little too much of a copy & paste of the original Portal 2 story. Test subject wakes up, meets core, core helps them escape, you 2 find big powerful source, core sends you away, you wake up below Aperture, you find a new core friend, new friend helps you defeat first core who turned evil, except it ends on a... "that's it?" kind of note. It would have been nice for them to mix things up a little bit. I believe the game offering the player a choice between which core to help would have been a tremendous step in deviating from the original story. Neither core shows any sign of truly EVIL intent, Core 1 wants to bring GLaDOS back so the facility can function like a paradise (he doesn't know GLaDOS killed all the humans), and Core 2 wants to prevent it from happening. Would have been interesting to see where a choice based story would go. Overall, it's a good story, even if it's essentially a modified copy and paste.

Speaking of the cores, Conly is by far my favorite thing about this mod. She was originally a human and when you woke her up, didn't realize she was a core until moments later and has this horrifying realization of what's happened. I would have loved to get to know her a bit more by having us wander around the Aperture underground where she talks about some of her memories at the place. Which she technically does, but it's more so about Aperture itself and not her as a character. I would have loved to hear her talk about some of her past working at Aperture with some of co-workers. She was so well written and it was fun to travel with her throughout a more expanded and shocking underground of the facility.

On that topic, falling into the depths of old Aperture is I think where this mod shines the most. Not only is it the chapter where we meet best core, and not only are ALL of the environments so well done and detailed, but it genuinely feels real enough to say "Yeah, this is the Aperture Valve envisioned." The exploration as well as going through old tests with all those new mechanics felt amazing.

Speaking of the new mechanics, I really REALLY wish we got more of it. The test chambers in this mod are fairly easy, nothing too incredibly challenging. Some of them felt a little too repetitive, requiring you to go back consistently. Even adding the brand new test mechanics like the power-off, sprinkler fields, or the laser link cubes, everything felt a little easy. Now, "easy" doesn't necessarily mean "bad". Maybe some other people had difficulty and me being a Valve veteran, I'm kinda used to it. Not sure, that's just me.

The music was tremendous, easily on par with the tracks from Portal Stories: Mel.

The setting and environments was also basically a bullseye hit here. I genuinely felt goosebumps at certain moments in the game because of the insanely will done setting and audio cues.

Overall, I recommend Portal: Revolution 100%. It isn't the perfect Portal experience, but it certainly adds to the world of it and I definitely had a lot of fun going through it. The ending: I was incredibly upset that we didn't get much clarity on the ending and we were just placed back in stasis. I would have loved to see more of what happens. It's good to know that we didn't die. The game hints to MAYBE getting a sequel, but even if it didn't, I am happy to know that Sterling and Conly are all right. I'm gonna miss the new friend(s) we made on this adventure. Until next time, friends..

Being a Sonic fan for 20 years of my life definitely means a lot to me. Sonic Team finally delivered something that is promising for the future of the blue blur. Sonic Frontiers holds up decently well with what it wanted to accomplish. While it did miss a few steps, it's not so much the game you should be focused on, but rather the formula Sonic Team is implementing here. And in that regard, Sonic Frontiers shines.

Sonic Frontiers is the very first Open World Sonic game and the first 3D Sonic game in a while that is somewhat reminiscent of the Sonic Adventure titles, giving you free roam far from just the side scrolling/boosting limited movement of the games past Sonic Unleashed. The open world itself, while it can be a bit bland, is filled with activities and secrets to keep the blue blur busy in his quest to solve the mystery of the Starfall Islands and save his friends. Most of the puzzles you can solve to help uncover more areas of your map are quite simple, not pressuring you to go super brain mode. In order to progress in the story, you must gather various different collectibles like keys, tokens, and memory fragments you can find scattered throughout the islands.

Speaking of the story, Ian Flynn did a tremendous job with what he was given to work with. I kinda wish there was a few more cutscenes with context and character interaction to really help build up the story better than just some flashbacks of the past here and there. The character development of all of Sonic's friends was fantastic, some of the best characterization for them in years. Each of them have a small side story that they need help with and you slowly progress through them both and Sonic has some great moments with them. Great story overall, I just wish there was a bit more time for the storyTELLING.

Cyberspace by far is my biggest disappointment with this game. They CAN be fun and they CAN be well designed, but some of them don't feel quite play tested. I would sometimes fall off or miss a spring for no reason, and if I ever messed up, I would have to restart the whole level since the timer doesn't reset if you ever die. Additionally, almost all of the Cyberspace levels are either in Green Hill Zone or Sky Sanctuary with a dash of Chemical Plant and the new highway space. I wish SEGA would stop reusing Green Hill so much.

Bosses are fantastic, even if the game sometimes doesn't register my parry. They all have a unique way to take them than just a simple homing attack. And the combat tree, while simple, was super fun to mess with and fight all sorts of enemies in the game. I had an absolute blast fighting everything that stood in my way. The final bosses that caps each island were INSANE to fight. I wont spoil it, but if you're a fan of Metal Gear Rising Revengeance or even Dragon Ball then you will LOVE the final fight for each island.

Music was basically sex for my ears. I don't think I need to explain it any further. Sonic never misses with its music.

Overall, I was very happy and very emotional when I finally completed the game. The first Sonic game I played on launch day since Colors. While it isn't a perfect game, it's the game I needed as a Sonic fan since the franchise has had a rocky history. The entire cast of the characters did absolutely fantastic and it was amazing to hear Roger take on a more serious toned Sonic. I miss my favorite childhood blue blur and I'm super glad to see that he's back and on a fresh, new direction for his future. Good luck, Sonic. I've missed you

So, there's a lot to talk about here.

A LOT of people praise this game simply because its gameplay and mechanics are heavily inspired and similar to Sonic Adventure. And in that regard, I can see why this game is praised. I've been a fan of this series since Spark 1 came out. I LOVED Spark 1 so much, Spark 2 had a lot of problems, but was still alright in the end, and then there's this game...

Let's start with the basics. Spark 3 is a sequel to Spark 2, I cannot really say much about the story because apart from a FEW short cutscenes in this game, the story is not well put together. Spark 1 and 2 like most games we've played, have cutscenes between levels, bosses, and other events. All with clear dialouge and slow story development as we progress through the game. Spark 3 on the other hand doesn't bother to even give us a reason as to why Spark is on the move until Spark himself after level 4 randomly comes up with a television screen and goes "Oh hey there, here's the story of my game so far". Kind of funny, if I'm being honest. The finale puts the story together SO SO much better than the rest of the game does, so I am very much willing to forgive the game for that. Because damn... that finale hit me...

Now onto the gameplay. Spark 1 had several different kinds of power ups you could find throughout the levels and they were SO much fun. Spark 2 had much less, and very few of them actually were useful. Spark 3... has barely anything. The ONLY Jester powerup I ever found was a Scythe in the new shop. I don't count Floats ability (since it just changes the character) and I don't count any of the new combo moves you can use. There could be much more that I missed, but in my journey of completing every single level, I found nothing else. I was VERY disappointed in that field as I was really looking forward to the new powerups in this game.

Bosses are pretty disappointing apart from the very first boss and the final boss. Every other boss in this game, you are either in a vehicle, fighting a boss from a previous game (reusing the exact same boss theme from the previous game), or you are meant to lose the said boss fight. The vehicle bosses aren't bad, but I wanted to run around and do Spark things fighting these bosses.

The music as always is very good. It's refreshing to only hear 2 reused themes from the previous titles. I was really REALLY hoping for a banger vocal track during the final boss but...well, beggars can't be choosers.

The credits are cringe. Not the actual music though, that rocks. But... you'll see what I mean.

I will say, the finale of this game was absolutely spectacular. Even without the banger vocal track, this is an amazing way to end off this series. It totally made up for most of my issues with this game. I'll miss this series all together

Overall, while I really enjoyed this game and it certainly is a solid game, nothing beats Spark 1. This game by any means isn't bad. It's just not a very serious feeling Sonic fan game. But maybe that's the whole point. Spark IS a jester after-all.

This is a complicated one so bare with me.

While I enjoyed my time with The Suicide of Rachel Foster, and as much of a polished, solid game that it is, it ends off with a VERY problematic viewpoint, one where I HEAVILY question the writers.

You play as Nicole, a young woman whose father and mother recently passed away. They were the owners of an incredibly fancy hotel that they now leave in your hands to sell off. As you arrive at the hotel, you are basically locked inside due a massive snowstorm outside. Luckily, you are not alone as your new good ol buddy and FEMA agent, Irving, has contacted you and helps guide you through the hotel uncovering its and your family's secrets.

As you progress through the game, you begin to learn a bit about Rachel Foster, the girl in the title of the game. I'll spare the details just so this review doesn't go on for too long, but basically, there is a LOT to unpack and a LOT of things your character discovers that completely shook me during my first time playing through.

Before I get into that, I just wanna mention all of the positives that this game has to offer, because there are quite a few. I really enjoyed exploring the hotel. Being able to walk around with a LOT of freedom let me take my time and progress where I needed to at my own pace. The environments were very detailed and decorated and teh atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. Every second, this game gave me a chilling vibe that something was going to jumpscare me, but alas, no jumpscares! Saves me the trouble of worrying. However, there isn't much GAME to it as its primarily a walking simulator where you find things, push buttons, ect.

With that being said, here is my (and I think most of this games players) main problem with the game, specifically its story (spoilers ahead)
Nearing the end of the game, we learn that Rachel was groomed and raped by Nicole's father. We also learn that she didn't actually commit suicide and was instead killed by Nicole's mother, Claire, with Nicole's own hockey stick (Nicole was on a hockey team) the very same day of Nicole's big game. Being absolutely horrified, Nicole obviously had a breakdown. Now had this had been the end, I would have been fine. It would have been a story about a horrible tragedy with a past to overcome. However, this game took it a bit too far...

This game romanticizes and promotes the pedophilia in it. At the end of the game before the finale, it's revealed that Irving was not actually a FEMA agent. He was Rachel's brother, living in the hotel attempting to guide us to the truth that we didn't know about before. In his monologues, he talks about how Rachel found "true love" with Nicole's father and was "happy". After the finale, Irving and Nicole find peace together, Irving takes off into the snowstorm and dies, and the one of two endings you can get are either Nicole dying in her own car to some kind of gas, or Nicole living the rest of her life, going insane, at the hotel. There is no happy ending here.

The main problem here is the fact that these writers actually found a way to praise and romanticize pedophilia and find "love" in a traumatic backstory where the adult was obsessed and had full control over this young girl. I do not think this game does any justice on touching on these topics whatsoever.

I feel really bad that I didn't piece this all together until recently. My first time playing through it was months ago and it was 2 AM when I beat it and I was beat tired so I didn't really understand or research its story properly.

All that being said, its a solid game for its pure exploration and gameplay but falling very VERY short on the message it is trying to get out to its audience. And I cannot recommend a game that promotes something like that.

The number of times that either my jaw dropped or I gasped and said to myself "Oh no..." that this game got out of me is quite impressive.

The tale Edith Finch originates from her entire family tree. In this experience, you travel back to the old house where the family used to live, uncover secrets from the past, and learn about your family and what exactly happened to them. There is a LOT that doesn't quite make sense, at least... at first anyway. As you dive deeper in the experience, the story begins to come together and I found it quite enjoyable to speculate and theorize about what happened where as I continued my expedition of the mysterious house. Putting all the pieces together is still a bit of a challenge even after completing the game, but after a bit, it wasn't too difficult.

With that dramatic description aside...

This game is at its core, a walking simulator/visual novel. However, it kept me hooked with the dialogue and continuous telling of the story. I love how almost all of the subtitles are part of the environment, sometimes even around objects/areas you need to get to. Don't let the words "Walking simulator" lead you astray. As you progress and experience the stories from other members of the Finch family, the experience begins to change. Sometimes you're all of a sudden an animal, or on a boat, or maybe even in a bathtub as a toy frog. Each story reflecting a good portion of the family members character and history. All of them however end up having a dark twist... you'll just have to see for yourself.

I overall enjoyed the hearing and experiencing each of their stories, though I gotta say, there isn't too much "game" in this game. You need to open doors, look in the right areas, and then do whatever it is you do in each of the stories. All of the mechanics are simple and there is no Lose condition, so you don't have to worry about dying or retrying a certain section. All of these packed in really makes this game more of a visual novel like I said before.

All of this being said, I loved this game. Its visuals are gorgeous, its storytelling is outstanding, and the environment is a combination of relaxing and unsettling. However, for a game that I beat in only 2 hours, I find $20 to be a BIT much to ask for. I bought it when it was on sale for $8.

I personally recommend waiting for this game to go on sale, but either way, the story of Edith and her family is one I recommend to anyone in search of a good story and an ominous experience.

Truly an exquisite experience. I really enjoyed myself through about a good 40% of the game. While some of the bosses and level design are annoying, its truly the end of the game that puts a smile on my face. I will not spoil it, but if you can brave through the difficulties that lie ahead, you will be rewarded greatly.

Roughly 10 years ago, there was a Half Life 2 mod called G String, released on MODDB. It was SO good, SO innovative, and SO gorgeous, I personally believed it was the BEST Half Life 2 mod out there. Fast forward to today with it's technical sequel ((since the events in the MODDB version seem to come before the events of this game, well call the MODDB version the prequel from here on)), and I regret it when I say this, but I am slightly disappointed.

Let's get into this shall we? G String is (at the time of writing this review and imo) of the best Half Life 2 mods out there in existence. There are some really good ones too, but G String is the only one to feel like a completely different game, in terms of setting and length. Despite it being the best Half Life 2 mod out there, it is FAR from a perfect game.

You play as Myo Hyori, a test subject who has escaped from the grips of scientists poking needles into her for sciency stuff. Myo is sort of...infected with a special kind of virus acquired from the new toxic environmental air from the Earths atmosphere. This gas can either have no effect, kill you, or even in some cases like for Myo... give you special powers. Myo is gifted (or cursed) with physic and pyrokentic abilities. Which is why she is so valued and which is why as soon as you escape, the entire Civil Protection is after you.

With the background out of the way, let's get into the setting. Exactly like the MODDB prequel/prolouge version of the game, you venture a gorgeous, but dying, Neo-metropolis, with neon signs, sex ads everywhere, robots nearly at every corner, and skies filled with lights from ships, signals, and satellites. It's a gorgeous setting I wish I would have been able to explore more. The majority of this game has you running around different establishments in the city you're in. Going through things like a abandoned robot factory, rushing through sewers, and climbing miles of space station goodness was exciting. The setting captures the exact same feel that the prequel had and that's great that the developer here has consistency, but I would've definitely loved to go outside a bit more rather than staying inside behind sealed windows.

The gameplay itself is fantastic and plays the exact same way a Half Life game should be. Scramble for weapons, keep your suit charged, break various ammo crates, and save your best weapons for the right opportunities. It was challenging and I had a fun time going through all the hazards. Every now and then I found myself trying to figure out where to go next with the teeny puzzle aspects this game does have. But I will say, I do miss the time stop ability the prequel had, and I would have loved to stop time during the various difficulty spikes this game brought upon me. I also would have loved more use for the pyrokenesis you're given for the majority of the game. It would've been cool to enhance my weapons or surroundings with fire and could have definitely been an interesting puzzle factor to the game, because I only found myself using the pyrokenesis when the game prompted me to the 3 times I needed to burn some oil.

The voice acting in this game has GREATLY improved from the prequel, I wouldn't call it anywhere near perfect, but definitely an improvement. One thing I did find VERY annoying was the constant Google japanese text to speech attached to my suit, which became the biggest burden anyone should have to carry in this game.

The story, once again, is confusing. You can easily make out the basic plot points; why the CP is after Myo, why she's dangerous, or maybe why she wants to leave the planet. But there are so many brief to lengthy cut-scenes in the game that don't quite make sense... every now and then you're character begins to hallucinate, seeing blobs of weird flesh to fancy empty luxury rooms, and it's never actually clarified what these are in the game. Some people may have theories, but the game doesn't really tie up any loose ends with its story. For example: What was that ending? The planet was destroyed? The city was destroyed? Why show a 9 minute light show with no context? Why show all these characters in a white space? What does all of it mean? Maybe it's part of the fun of theorizing the games story, and if so, plus one to that.

The soundtrack was great. Really fits the mood for the game.

Overall, while I greatly prefer the the MODDB prequel version of this game, this new Steam sequel is still worth it if you are looking for a new Half Life 2 mod/game to play. While it definitely isn't perfect, it still kept me hooked throughout the entirety of the game. Plus, it is made by a single female developer who spent nearly a decade on this game. Which, alone, is something to applause for.
