I love this concept / program! It feels like I have my own personal lo-fi girl to work alongside and help keep me motivated. Very grateful to the dev-team for providing this productivity tool. It helps me stay focused in the cutest way possible while I work from home. I love how it's a combo white noise, task tracker, pomodoro timer, and bg music app.

Here's some recommendations that I think could improve the product in future updates:
- More robust task list functionality. I have lots of tasks, but for different things! It'd be nice to organize them.
- More customization! I think it would be nice to collect individual items and physically place them myself along the walls, desk, etc. I have quite a bit of hours in-game already, but the customization for rooms grows thin after a bit because when you buy options, it comes with a bunch of pre-set objects -- what you get is what you get. I think it would help extend the longevity of the 'game' by adding smaller goals (posters, cups, stickers, shelves, etc) and feel much more satisfying when you can place them yourself.
- More unlockable hairstyles; it's a bit limited to start! Also customization with gradients, head-pieces, glasses, etc would be nice.
- Spirit palettes are a bit limited, it would be nice to be able to customize those or add accessories, too! Honestly just like, I wouldn't mind being made to work for more upgrades haha. Gives more long-term goals and feels much more satisfying
- Genuinely just like, let me customize EVERYTHING haha!
- Spotify integration. I see there's a web-browser for YouTube ... but I have Spotify premium with no ads! It would be nice to be able to control it from in-game instead of having it open in a separate window.
- Ability to change UI colors!
- Ability to edit UI sounds!
- Startup loads slowly. Some optimization may be necessary?

Love this tool and am looking forward to future updates.

Alicemare is like the 'bad' pancake of Miwashiba titles:
It still tastes good, but it's the first one, so it's not the prettiest of the batch.

The graphics are nice, the dialogue is interesting, the music is neat, there's a ton of hidden content/multiple endings, your dialogue choices DEFINITELY matter, and it's generally just a good time. However, it's near impossible to 100% complete it without following a guide, the gameplay doesn't always give you a clear next step to take, and story is never fully explained to you by the end.

It's still a pretty good & pleasurable experience, and it's worth playing. If you're new to Miwashiba titles, though, I suggest starting with LiEat; the second pancake that does everything Alicemare did right and more. Then make your way back here for another good time ~ !

This game was .:* incredibly influencial*:. in-between its original 2004 release and today! It shaped the genre for surreal pixel horror as we now know it.

Let me assure you though, it is not a grindy or dialogue-filled one! If you want a straightforward gaming experience, this isn't for you.

If you enjoy reading into psychological tones, mental immersion, simple-pleasures, surrealness, and classic pixel RPGs, then please oh please by all means allow yourself to experience this for yourself !! Most of where the game harbors its appeal is in losing yourself...so I reccomend that, if you enjoy these attributes in a game, you go in blind and appreciate things as they come and trust that a conclusion will indefinitely meet you in the end !
This is one of my favorite videogames, and I'm excited that its Steam release will allow others to experience it too ~

Don't let my playtime fool you, I have the original non-Steam release ~

I'd like to reccomend this game, especially with all the thought and hard work done behind the scenes to develop it...but I had a lot of design issues with Dreaming Sarah that got in the way.

Yays:
  • Interesting items make enjoyable gameplay! I like how you can 'combine' your usage of equipment instead of having to unequip and re-equip everything one at a time.
  • Interesting graphics that add pleasure to the levels' look.

Nays:
  • We don't really get attached to the main character because we don't see much evidence of personality.
  • Level designs are not by any means intuitive; You just gotta know where to go and what to do in what order.
  • Directions are unclear. I know that this is for effect, but even its obvious inspiration Yume Nikki told us to 'find all the items and put them in the main room' before dropping most of the dialogue.
  • The 'trippy' tones and mood felt forced.
  • Dissapointing ending cutscene that was dragged out far too long. Not a dissapointing end, but an unsatisfactory execution that does not cue the viewer as to how the climax relates to the ending without further context.
  • The genre was unclear. Okay, this is a platformer! Oh, but it's got psychological horror elements...? Mm, not really, 'cus there's punchy character dialogue. Okay, now it's a comedy? Wait nope there's blood. Not that all those things are bad necessarily, but the tone was unclear and pulled me out of the immersion.
  • The game window is labeled NW and has an icon not that of Dreaming Sarah...which is confusing. I'd expect a little more polish in that regard for a game sold on Steam. Also, hitting F12 for Steam overlay's screenshot function pulls open a Chrome link which should also not happen for a game sold on Steam.
  • The saving feature is misleadingly labeled as Continue and New Game. There is NO warning that the previous save data will be rewritten over.

If you really want something to do for an hour or so, by all means get it for the $0.59(?) it goes for when on sale...but otherwise I'd reccomend you don't bother.

Buy this and
  • experience one of the arguably best Sonic games
  • feel like an emo middleschooler again

Win-win.

.:* How I fell in love with LiEat *:.

Chapter 1: The characters seem rather two-dimensional, but the dialogue is certainly amusing.
Chapter 2: These two have such a good dynamic! I....I want to play this game? More?? I want to....hear the soundtrack??? And gaze at the graphics????
Chapter 3: This. Was. Worth. Every. Penny. Idk if I'll ever find a game sweeter than this. <3

---

For seriously, I am head over heels for LiEat and Miwashiba. This game is an RPG featuring multiple endings and a primary focus on dialogue, story, kawaii-factor, and character building. There is a battle system, but it is meant to be supplemental and not distract from the furthering the plot, so don't expect much brain-bending or difficulty.
Please pick this up! Its utter charm and interesting play-elements are sure to win you over ~
