Picked up this scuffed indie game thinking I would be done with it in a few minutes. Got sucked into if for 11hrs straight!

Honestly, it's a great example of the kind of games solo/tiny-team indie developers should be making, The map and design scope is very limited and there is a handful of simple yet engaging gameplay mechanics that allow for a maximum amount of asset reuse.

The game itself is very rough around the edges and at times pretty janky with wonky physics and FPS drops but it's easy to imagine it with a bit of polish. Specifically, better assets and optimization, more things to interact with/ explore.

As-is the game becomes pretty much unplayable once you've fully expanded your business. It becomes a hot mess with poor FPS, tables and computers flying everywhere. Good luck getting to a customer in time if they order a snack while your business is packed with people. There is also a counter-intuitive balance issue where laptops are much better for customer satisfaction and upkeep vs. high end PCs that cost much more to make ready for use. Still, with all these issues, they are all things that should be reasonable for the devs to fix. There have been some updates and hopefully the developer will continue to improve this game as it has a lot of potential.

Worth the promo price for some simple yet addictive gameplay and a lesson in smart game design,

The classic 80s-90s vision of the cyberpunk future of the Shadowrun world is done serious justice by this game. The art style and game mechanics and story all do a great job of pulling you into it even though there is no voice acting (prepare for a lot of reading).

The turn based combat is slow paced but satisfying. The character skill and equipment system is pretty robust. So, there's definately room for replay variety but it would probably be boring to play through more than a couple times. If you're a veteran of turn based combat games, I would suggest playing on a high difficulty. I played the default normal setting and for the most part, combat was way too easy.

All in all a pretty lesurely game and a bit nostalgic. Keeping in mind how SR is setup more as a gaming platfom with systems in place for users to create their own stories and content, the lack of niceties like voice acting, variety of music and so on is forgivable. This was definately worth the $4.99 I paid for it on Steam sale.
