If that's the case then you might as well play the original.
The only reason you might wanna play Battlefield Portal instead of the original games is because you can mix and match games. (Play BFBC2 on Bf3 maps and such)
Or because in the case of Battlefield 1942 you can't play online anymore (At least the official way)
So those are the only reasons i can think of why you would play Battlefield Portal instead.
If they ever fix the bugs that is...
