An incredible sequel to an already great game.

Yomawari: Midnight Shadows acts both as sequel and alternate story to Yomawari: Night Alone. I played Night Alone and absolutely loved it. But I didn't expect Midnight Shadows to be even better! The story is just incredible and I utterly enjoyed the ride despite some gameplay flaws.

Pros:
- Incredible story, that ties together better than in Night Alone;
- Cute as heck two main characters and a doggy!
- Eerie atmoshere that grips you right away and doesn't let go;
- Some of the jumpscares are outstandingly well done;
- Greater variety of enemies with different escape mechanics;
- Enjoyable boss fights, each with a unique twist to them.

While the game definetely improved in terms of story and enemy variety, it suffers from the same drawbacks the first game did.
Cons:
- Many of the mechanics are barely useful - in 99% of cases it's better to just run away (NOTE: there are times when the new mechanics are essential but it's like once or twice in the game);
- A LOT of cheap deaths that require you to do some tedious going back-forth every time you die (though this becomes less of a problem once you know where and when something happens and the distance you have to go each time is usually decent, but it still feels tedious - why not let us fight the boss RIGHT AWAY?).
- I personally don't mind some reused sprites, enemies or locations, but someone might see it as a drawback;

In conclusion, I'm a huge fan of this game. Actually, of BOTH games - I don't think you can enjoy Midnight Shadows as much as I did without playing Night Alone first. Is it worth playing? Hell yeah, but only after you finish Night Alone. The game will certainly blow your mind, if you do so.

A really comfy game with charming atmosphere.

Pros:
- Absolutely beautiful artstyle, everything's just charming and cute;
- Lovely characters and great interactions between them. You can really feel the love of the developer to their creations;
- Interesting story with several endings;
- Fitting and pretty catchy music;
- Dialogues are interesting, although somewhat repetitive when you get close to the ending.

Cons:
- A LOT of going back and forth with constant (but short) loading screens between locations;
- Most of the puzzles are really easy and basically come down to "go there, bring this,come back, get that";
- Occasional frame drops? In some particular places (near the port on the very first island) your character just moves rapidly accross the screen, while doing fine anywhere else.
- Some animations could be smoother, in some places you could definetely see all 3-4 still images following one another.
- Item descriptions could be better. Often when you click on an interactible it just describes it shortly. For instance, you click on a flower pot with flamingo ornament on it and it says "It is a flower pot with flamingo ornament on it". That's it. Nothing else.

Conclusuion:
It's a really comfy, I'd say soothing experience. Loved every character, every interaction and the story was fun to follow. You'll have fun for 2-3 hours, finish the game and forget about it forever, but I'd say the price is worth it. Buy it to support the developer, cause provided more time, budget and experience, they'll surely surprise us with an even better game.

The first couple of hours were reaaally fun!
I kept having internal dialogues whether should I sacrifices something to achieve the goal or not
It was getting to me emotionally, really
But eventually near the end I found myself not caring that much already - all I wanted was to finally achieve the bloody ending

8/10 - The game is quite good, but too much grinding near the end
