This is it. This is the one. The big one we've all waited and begged for. This is a day I never thought would come. But it happened. PC finally got the greatest PlayStation exclusive of them all (besides Bloodborne:) Insomniac's Spider-Man.

This game, is an absolute masterpiece, and arguably the greatest superhero game ever created. (Sorry Batman Arkham City I love you and you're a fave, but you don't come anywhere close to this.) Insomniac set out to create the best Spider-Man game out there, a game where you properly webswing from objects instead of "flying" with your webs just shooting into the air. A game where you truly feel like Spider-Man with every button press delivering each punch and kick. A game with an amazing story that feels like it was ripped right out of a Spider-Man comic book. And they succeeded.

The port is perfect. It runs even better than it does on PlayStation 5, with actual proper raytracing instead of that workaround the PS5 uses. Using an RTX 3060 I got a solid constant 60 FPS at 1080p high settings with raytracing on. It runs like a dream and loads wicked fast, even on HDDs (though I still recommend you use SSDs or else you'll have lag when swinging through the world as it doesn't load the world as fast.) Hell it loads so fast they had to add an option in the options menu to be able to see the funny subway cutscenes when fast traveling.

(Protip: Although you can play the game with any controller, a PS5 Dualsense controller is recommended, as you get fun extra gimmicks when playing, such as adaptive triggers that simulate the feeling of firing Spidey's webshooters, adding to the immersion of being Spider-Man as you play.)

Now, for story. You are Peter Parker in his late 20s. You start the game as an already experienced Spider-Man, taking down notorious crime lord Wilson Fisk, AKA The Kingpin. Taking down the Kingpin slowly begins to unravel the city however. Gangs and thugs stepping out thinking they're the next Godfather, a mysterious terrorist group called the Demons, supervillains like Shocker and Tombstone, and worst of them all the team of Spider-Man's most notorious villains: THE SINISTER SIX. You'll have to protect the city while also living life as normal Peter Parker. No sweat right?

The game has the full main story which will net you over a day of content, even longer if you go for 100% (which you should because it's easy and so rewarding to get 100%, as well as all the achievements.) Then after you finish the main story, you can tackle The City That Never Sleeps DLC Trilogy, following the events after the main game involving Black Cat, Yuri Watanabe, and Maggia crime boss Hammerhead. Should note, while the DLC is optional it would be in your best interest to play it as events in the DLC set up the story for the upcoming PC port of Spider-Man Miles Morales, as well as Spider-Man 2.

So uhh yeah, buy it immediately. Hell even if you already played the original PS4 game, buy it. That's what I did, and I replayed it beginning to end 100% it, and man it held up four years later. You need to experience this greatness, greatness we waited a long time for. Hell buy it just for photo mode alone as I spent way too many hours in photo mode with the new raytracing custom lighting sources in the PC port. Can't wait for Miles Morales, and fingers crossed we get Spider-Man 2 as well.
