This game is so good that we have even won an IRL campaign against corporate overlords just to ensure it can stay good.

FOR SUPEREARTH.

> Be me, at a stage of having liquid water on the planet
> Running around for the last 2 hours looking for ice, desperate for ice, to make water
> Can't find any, nearly ded from dehydration
> Friend on discord says: "Can't you make a water catcher?"
> MFW I forgot that those exist
> MFW I am stupid because all the ice melted seeing as I got liquid water on the planet

I would be a terrible terraforming engineer, that said, the game is awesome, go play it. Just needs co-op.

Whoever came up with that input lag and the control scheme on the keyboard should be tried as a war criminal.

Also that intro sequence made me vomit.

Absolutely not worth the 4 quid I paid. What an absolute garbage fest and a disgrace to the Most Wanted name.

And to the people giving it positive reviews now, just because its older and newer NFS titles are even worse doesn't mean this is suddenly good. Just means we've been stuck with ♥♥♥♥ for longer.

A testament that for a sci-fi game to be legendary you don't need extremely polished mechanics or intriguing systems, this game is missing a lot of that.
But what matters is that this perfectly captures an intriguing sci-fi universe through its use of characters, story & lore. This is why this game is legendary. It injects you with curiosity about its world and then pulls you in.

No other game has allowed me to fulfil my desires of an illegal logging operation as 3 Mexican dads while also building a Siegfried line replica around our huge base, shooting at illegal immigrants to our island with catapult towers and throwing bombs down for good measure, occasionally a molotov for that BBQ experience.

When you get bored you get your buddies, you grab your chainsaws, and you go to town in spicy hand to hand combat.

Only thing missing is a trebuchet, and an ability to fire corpses from said trebuchet. This better be addressed in the sequel dev men.

TL:DR - The game feels like a graphical mod for Warband. Instead of enhancing the battles (which is the main point of this game) they've done some things on the side, but leaving the battles virtually the same as Warband with the same kind of issues.

I wish you could post a mixed review because that's what I would give this game, but seeing as I only have two choices I recommend you do not buy this game. For the simple reason that I feel like it did not evolve to modern standards and many of the systems that make a Mount&Blade game have not been improved.

If you want a longer version, read on. First, what I like:

- I enjoyed the size of battles
- I enjoyed the graphical improvements
- I enjoyed the fact that you could walk around various towns, they seemed varied enough and it was interesting to walk about them
- I enjoyed the atmosphere

What I didn't enjoy / wish that would be there but it doesn't seem to be:

- Facial expressions of NPCs are actually worse than those of Mass Effect Andromeda, I don't know what happened here.
- AI seems much dumber than that in Warband which is impressive. This leads on into the fact that you can't fight as infantry as it basically turns into either a moshpit, or the NPCs run around like headless chickens around the field. So you are stuck on the horse just like in Warband, I do realise that the title of the game is "MOUNT&Blade" but I wish there were additional options on how you can approach the battle as a soldier.
- On the topic of AI still, they do not use any tactics against you... ever, they will either charge straight at you, or stand still. Thats it.
- Commanding your troops is basic and kind of the same as in Warband. You basically use a couple of keys to do basic commands. Unfortunately because you are doing it from your perspective it is extremely clunky when it comes to trying to tell your troops to line up properly.
I see this as a massively missed opportunity. Imagine if you could set up elaborate tactical plans from a top down view, save various tactics before the battle to execute them with a hotkey later. Hell, lets stack it on seeing as the main point of M&B is the big battles. Imagine if you could split your forces into various units before the battle. Imagine being able to set up an elite unit that is at your side and only goes for the enemy as a last resort.
Instead its just same old same old, here is your moshpit of infantry, here are your archers, and here are your braindead cavalrymen who will chase one guy around the map instead of hitting the flank of the whole army. Enjoy.
- Loading screens, while I enjoyed walking around the town I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hated the fact that you would go into a loading screen just to transition into the tavern, and then back.
What seems very odd to me is they added an ability for you to talk to important characters from the city screen, but instead of the conversation happening there it.... loads you into the city? And then after talking to the guy you have to hold TAB to leave again. These are not long loading screens but they still destroyed my immersion as they happened constantly.
- The combat has not evolved at all from 2010. And with many games coming out between that and now like Mordhau or Kingdom Come Deliverance it feels ancient, outdated and clunky. Fighting feels floaty and without weight. And while the directional system is fine for many I wished I had the option to select sides by binding them to a hotkey, but unfortunately the only 2 ways you can have it is mouse movement (nausea) or movement keys (confusion as you try to combine footwork with blocking / attacking directions) as AI strikes are fast as hell and they feel weightless.
- The fact that I can list out so many negative things after just 2 hours of playtime says something I think.

Its just..... I don't know, I watched some streamers afterwards, like Sheriff Eli. All he did was ride round & round a giant moshpit with weird animations and do the same thing over and over in every single battle. He was having a blast, but I was quickly bored. Was this Warband? Absolutely, but I expected some kind of a development seeing as its been 10 years.

I hope to return to this once it comes out of Early Access, but I don't think any negative points apart from the faces will be addressed. Give it a try if brainless moshpit of NPCs gives you joy, but judging by the fact that you have battles so constantly that will probably get boring too, and there is no real substance to hold it up once it does.

And now I will go cry in a corner as my childhood has been crushed.

Finally a game that doesn't treat you like you're the most special and beautiful snowflake in the world that is chosen to be great and successful in all that he does. When in fact you're born a lowly peasant.
No, the game treats you for what you are, a peasant, and any ♥♥♥♥ ups that you do add to the story and experience and allow for great replayability.

There are two things that truly annoyed me in this game, the fact that you save with elixirs, which was either an attempt at immersion or to try to prevent save scumming, and the slow mo in combat.
Luckily, you can get mods that allow you to save normally, and that disable the slow mo, and I recommend those for the best experience.

This game has it all. Angry bare chested irish men screaming and punching their way through a crowd, pan wielding drunk engineers, edgelords with capes, bards, screaming commanders and trebuchet memes along with a good Wilhelm scream to boot.

I don't think there's another game where you can wield 4 pans, while screaming at your enemy over the gate, while they are kicking down the said gate, with bards playing in the background.

No but really, combat is fun and has an immense skill ceiling, the game looks great, plays great, you can make your character with unique abilities and weapons, want to be a pan wielding archer? sure, a bare chested irish man with immense power once they knock down an enemy? go right ahead.
This is like for honor, except the combat is good, its actually funny and there are no teleporting leaf village weebs in sight. 10/10
