Early Access Review
I really wanted to love this game, everything about it could’ve been done or handled way better than what it is now, and I wanted to give it a positive review, given that it’s in an early access, and made by a single developer, though I couldn’t.

The Game
DevLife is a game where you somehow end up in a locked time loop, you'll be pausing the game a lot just so you don't accidentally miss the "unfair" deadline.

You’re given commissions to complete based on your level, and unlocked components, eventually you’ll be able to do your own commercial projects that will profit you if you’re lucky with the RNG.

Bugs
The game feel’s choppy at times and really needs to be optimized as soon as possible, it doesn’t make sense that my game stops working for a second then somehow an interface telling me that another commission or the current one has been completed or some other notification, this becomes really annoying in mid game, it’s like the game isn’t designed to handle this much information from a simple action.

Aside from that, one of the major turn offs to this game was the fact that it contained a lot of bugs, and I mean A LOT. This is by far the most annoying thing about an early access game, and I don't understand how such a mess like this has been even made.
I haven’t personally finished the game or completed it per say, that’s because there’s a bug when I move to a town and after 10 to 20 minutes of playing the game suddenly freezes, requiring me to relaunch the save file, or sometimes the entire game, followed by a black screen with nothing to do or a way to fix such bug, I have multiple saves with the same issue and that’s the reason why I stopped playing it.

As a game developer myself I often wonder how this could’ve even happen in the first place, especially with how "optimized" the Unity game engine is, was it the lack of experience? or is it the engine's fault? Clearly, it's not the engine's fault this time.

Save File Redundancy
One funny thing I found about the game which could be a good thing in some cases, the save files, and oh man a single save file can go up to 9 MBs if you ever reach the mid to late game, that's if for whatever reason you were able to reach that far without the game bugging out for some unknown reason.

Well you see, a single save file not only contains your current character, company, and employees state, but it also has all of the upgrades descriptions, cost and modifiers and so on. This is redundant, since the same values are shared across saves (if not tampered with manually per save), it won’t be a problem if it isn’t eating quite some space from steam’s cloud saves (which in itself is limited per game). As I said earlier it can be a positive thing, it allows you to make your own modification on “balancing” the game as you like, and making the modifiers of your company upgrades actually feel good and worth the investment, but this could’ve been done in a better way.

Verdict – 6.5 / 10
Alright, so does that mean the game is not worth buying? No, it is worth it if you’re willing to be patient with the game. It’ll also help motivate the developer to update and keep fixing those annoying bugs.

I don’t hate the game, in fact it has a lot of positive aspects to it, it still needs to be worked on heavily though, the developer is fast at responding to player’s concerns from what I’ve seen, but sometimes promising fixes and stuff couldn’t be just passed on to the next “major update”, stuff like the black screen bug in mid game needs to be fixed immediately, it’s in the alpha phase – bugs are to be expected.

The game has a potential, though it's far from "fun" in its current state.

Factorio is a game where you make factories...
It's really amazing, despite the looks (graphics) of it, it's just fun, it's really satisfying to look at your built factories while they're functioning, moving items on belts, splitters splitting items into other lanes, and so on!

I'd recommend this game, for people who enjoy playing games that do not require you to focus as much, and just like to relax in general..
