A slick ARPG that's unique in both its setting and the player's build progression. Instead of allocating stat & skill points every level, you get a growing, block-puzzle-esque canvas in which to mix and match upgrades.

I've found it a tad on the easy side, even in the post-story content. Sometimes it's nice to zone out and just get absorbed in the pretty colors (which this game has lots of).

From Software at peak performance. One of those games I wish I could experience again for the first time.

Pretty good. As with BL2, the writing can be a bit lame. But the gameplay is as fun as 2, if not better. Freezing is better than slag IMHO and the ground pound is more fun than I expected.

Great twin-stick shooter rogue-lite. I was only going to play this to get the trading cards, but I got pretty hooked. Don't sleep on this one.

You're a cute girl experimenting with potions and cooking. There's a cat. Pretty easy once you figure out how the herbs have been randomized and see the patterns for crafting items. I had fun deciphering the made-up alphabet, even though it's not required. Relaxing soundtrack and good vibes overall.

To me, Ichi strikes a good balance with regards to difficulty and length. I usually end up quitting pure puzzle games like this for one of two reasons:

1. I come across a puzzle that just feels impossible no matter how long I look at it, resulting in loss of motivation to pick it back up again.
2. The sheer number of puzzles is giant. More is not always equal to better, and I find myself getting bored if there's no more new mechanics to be thrown in.

Thankfully, Ichi exhibits neither of these. Not once did I feel hopelessly stuck on a puzzle. A few minutes of thinking was always enough to get over any hurdle. Also, the amount of developer-made puzzles is enough to satisfyingly explore the mechanics the game has to offer. There's also a level editor with online sharing, but I think the game is fulfilling enough with the base levels.

Speaking of mechanics, the game play is very simple being a mobile game. This is not a bad thing, as this set of mechanics is very tight and even employs a bit of reaction time. One thing I love is when games reveal to you an ability that you had all along. Ichi has one of those (I'm talking about the action that doesn't count as a "tap"). When the game showed it, I definitely had an "oooohhhhhh... I see" moment.

It's usually pretty cheap on sale, so I recommend giving it a look if you haven't already.

American Truck Simulator is a strong evolution of SCS's trucking sim formula. The core loop of pickup, drive, and deliver (with a dash of business management) is still there from ETS2. Cruising from the bustling cities in California, trough the barren night desert, and into a small town in Nevada is as satisfying as ever.

The map's scale may be smaller than ETS2, but ATS's world is much more dense and interesting. The use of vanilla ETS2's assets was very similar in every city. That is no longer the case with ATS. From the base level, there are straight up more things to see as you cruise from destination to destination. When assets ARE reused, they are done so in such a creative manner that you probably won't notice on first glance.

Most notable of the new assets are the new locations where jobs are taken and delivered. Not only are they much more varied than ETS2, but there's an increased level of challenge when parking. Larger trucks and longer trailers combined with tight quarters and required blind-side backing make some of the drop-offs downright difficult. In fact, the difficulty as a whole has increased with ATS. The mobile police cars make avoiding speeding fines more complex than just cheesing speed cameras. Also, the rebalanced economy seems to have made it a little less easy to earn loads of money.

However, there are still flaws. Unprotected, at-grade left turns onto freeways are a nightmare. The freeway traffic will never let up, so any AI in front of you will never be able to pull out. Even if you're lucky enough to be first in line at the turn, you'll end up slowly nudging your way into traffic to try and block them long enough to make it through. Then there are the small pockets of the road system where the speed limit rapidly changes from 70 to 30 to 55. God help you if a cop spots you going 31 in the midst of braking. Lastly, some truck customization parts are not present, such as air horns and extra lights.

(UPDATE 2016/05/02 - SCS has since added protected left turns to some areas and made the speed limit changes more gradual. There are still a few rough spots, but way less than on release.)

Overall, I am really pleased with ATS at the $20 price point, which is the same as the Scandinavian DLC for ETS2 when it came out. There may only be two trucks and two states, but SCS has been good about supporting ETS2 and they are showing no signs of changing. They've already confirmed at LEAST two more trucks, and the state of Arizona as free DLC. It will be interesting to see their plan for paid DLC to cover the rest of the country.

(UPDATE 2018/11/21 - This game still dope af. We've gotten two fantastic state DLCs since Arizona, a new truck with the Volvo VNL, ownable box/flatbed trailers, challenging cargo with Heavy/Special transport DLCs, and SCS's dedication to improving the engine and the base map.)

(UPDATE 2019/11/27 - Still good. Washington and Utah are dope.)

Really fun FPS. Instead of traditonal guns, you're using a wand, spells, staves, and alchemical weapons (some of which are like guns). The randomized rogue-like elements make every playthrough feel fresh, and the persistent unlocks keep you coming back for more runs.

Even though it's released, the developers are active in supporting the game with fixes and balance changes. So props to them for not just dropping it upon release.

Really, really fun rogue-like-like-like FPS with a wonderfully unique art style. The combat is satisfying and there's loads of items and secrets to find. Movement on-foot is a little floaty, but that isn't much of an issue when you start getting upgrades to stay in the air longer.

Oh, and getting to the "real" top of the tower is an awesome easter egg.

My little speed-running twitch-shooter can't be this cute. Worth every penny and then some.
