…In the morning I woke up with a feeling of festive atmosphere as the whole room was decorated with coloured ribbons, mistletoe and a toy Santa Claus on the table. I got dressed and went downstairs. In the hall there was a Christmas tree decorated with colourful balloons, toy and garlands and an angel on the top. The stockings were hung above the fireplace, and holiday cards stood on the table. All this caused a feeling of joy and admiration. I went to the kitchen for breakfast. I found Jack and his parents speaking about the presents they had already bought for
their relatives. We congratulated each other on the coming holiday.

In the evening we decided to go out. Walking along the streets we enjoyed the lovely atmosphere of Christmas. People were hurrying here and there to buy what they needed for a holiday dinner.They were smiling and laughing happily. All the shop windows were decorated with garlands and wreaths of mistletoe and holly hung on the doors. Lights of burning candles were shining brightly from the windows of the houses creating comfort and mystery. Not far from Jack’s house we met the children who were going to sing Christmas carols.

Finally, we returned home and set the table. All dishes were nicely decorated, and the magnificent flavor came from them. We put the largest plate of turkey and baked apples into the center of the table. Plum pudding, a variety of salads and Christmas bread were set around. Later Jack’s parents and relatives came. They presented gifts to each other. I was also presented with a nice glass angel. Then we sat down at the table. I tried every dish because they were very tasty. Later we went out, and the night sky lit up with bright fireworks!

Frankly speaking, I have always thought of Christmas as a time of great kindness and happiness. It’s the time of the year when people open their hearts to each other. Here in London I realized it was true. The memories about my staying in London would remain in my heart forever, I thought.

… I woke up in my own bed in my house in Novaya Nadezhda. Unfortunately, it was a wonderful dream, but only a dream… I do want it to become true.
