I've picked up (and dropped) a great number of fighting games over the years, and when you line up all of them, Tekken 7 is by far the one I've loved the most—easily even becoming one of my all-time favorite games across any genre.

It's not an easy game and, astonishingly, no part of the game ever teaches you how to play it at a meaningful level—but luckily, the Tekken community provides a flabergasting (and frankly, slightly intimidating) trove of guides and resources necessary to start understanding the game. Anyone deciding to spend some effort learning from them will be paid back tenfold with a game of

- Astonishing depth
- Insanely gratifying counterhits
- A rewarding and free-form movement system
- Fun and cool combos
- Aggravating and evil combos
- Bottomless mindgames
- Hype as hell low parries
- Hype as ever-living hell slow motion round enders
- Bruce Lee fanatics playing on public WiFi from across the street
- Awesome comebacks
- Horrifying comebacks
- Edgy karate demons
- Bears
- Self-doubt
- Ragequits
- Glorious returns
- A never-ending quest to improve

I've heard people describe high-level Tekken as playing chess at light speed.
Honestly though, chess wishes it was half as cool as Tekken.
