While I haven't completed the game yet, I am very impressed with this 2D scroller that encompasses 3D backgrounds. It plays very smooth with a XBOX controller, which is the best way to play a shooter in my opinion. The game download is surprisingly small and the in-game intermissions are well done. Sound is excitingly well done and the graphics are gorgeous. Animated player and enemies are smooth and very responsive. Has an R-Type kinda feel to it. Be sure to check out all the buttons on your controller as your in-game ship and powerups react differently. Recommended!

Note: If you are in Windows 10/11, select Window mode and your monitors max resolution. The game may crash otherwise forcing you into the game's safe mode.

I was never good at stealth (in general) or timing my shots, but this game is super fun to play .. or you can go in with guns blazing and throwing dynamite around if you want. I usually fall into the latter.. lol. :-)

Graphics:
Very, very good.. especially considering it is using the Mantle/Vulkan API so graphics are smooth even with details turned up. Everything has a nice, crisp detail to it with lot's of smaller details that make for some nice touches. You really do feel like you are in Africa.

Sound:
No music except for menu screens or action interludes. The lead character voice is super cool (me thinks); he has voiced all the Sniper Elites I believe. No complaints here.

Gameplay:
If you like detailed, technical.. stealth with a WW2 feel this game is for you. It is super fun and delivers what it intends in terms of old war gaming mechanics absolutely in spades. Recommended!

Cannon Fodder 3, like the previous two games, is a fun war game romp through various levels of increasing difficulty. You start off with a certain amount of troops that will travel with you through level to level mindful if you can keep them alive that is. Either point and click, use WASD, or a gamepad to control your team. Fire weapons and throw grenades. Hop into various vehicles and engage with the various details in the background.

Graphics are top down 3D, which is reminiscent of the previous first 2D games. Details are fun and colorful. Visuals are not stunning but they entirely serve the purpose to this games main groove and mojo - a colorful rendition, with touches of various details and humor, of a serious topic splattered (no pun intended) throughout.

Sound is somewhat repetive and I miss the various absurd death screams from the first game in particular - which were hilarious . Here they are more subdued but still serviceable to their goal and are fun to be sure.

I don't know why many people have not heard of this series; perhaps it has slipped under the radar for most people. I highly recommend it and hope to see a new Cannon Fodder 4 in the future with the return of the poor, enemy soldier death screams that were so comical to the first in the series. :-)

I love this game, pure and simple. Ever since I played it in the late 90's. I never was one for racing games in general but this one is different. It's Star Wars!?!! One of the more exciting things in the first film is displayed here in full LucasGames fashion, with all the appropriate Star Wars music, sound effects, quirky alien dialog, and just oozing with atmosphere.

You can play Anakin Skywalker or one of the myriad of other alien racers, each with their own pod racer which exhibits multiple different attributes particular to that specific racer.. want tighter control? Faster speed? Etc.. all of which can be upgraded through the junkyard or bought as spare parts; along with repair droids and other neat items/things.

Graphics are what you would expect from a 1998/1999 title, with support for higher resolutions which can be selected before launching the game via it's own utility. Now, don't expect hi rez models for the racers or updated textures. Nope, at least, not yet.. the Nintendo Switch and PS4 have the Remastered version of this game. I sure hope it makes it's way to the PC.

All in all, it's a blast to play with various creative planets to race on and some courses have more then one way to finish. Enjoy!

Just now completed the game. Thoughts?! Awesome experience, everything Dead Space was but with essentially more of everything.. better graphics, more intense situations, better cinematics, and gruesome audio. My only complaint is the fact that Isaac talks in this one which I wish they found a way to work it more to the players imagination.

I never did test out the multiplayer aspect of the game so I am unable to comment on that portion. Otherwise, have fun!

I've had this game in my library for almost 11 years, and it is gem of a game if you like on-rails space sim where the object is to just blast away at enemies in droves.. Serious Sam in space as I like to think about it.. frantic, fun, keeps you coming back for more.

Graphics:
Great, even despite it's age. Lot's of details here and there make the visuals stand out. They are colorful with wonderful bloom type of effects. Very pleasing to the eyes.

Sound:
Music is servicable to good. Sound effects are very pleasing to the ears and fit the visuals meticulously and methodically.

Gameplay:
Frantic, fun - has that I want to try another level or one more time feeling. So it's all gooood! :-)

Con:
No way to save your progress.. you have to start over each time.. grrr!

Overall:
Highly recommended. Too bad there is no co-op or pvp, it would have been awesome fighting from one end of the universe to meet each other in the middle.. ahh well..

I love the Metro series of games, but I have not read the books that they are based on (fun note: you can see copies of the books in the game). This review applies to the Redux version but some of which also applies to the original as well.

The world has been nearly eliminated through the use of nukes. You play a young Russian Artyom, who is green around the ears but eager to do the right thing. Artyom remembers the nukes falling on Moscow when he was just a toddler and the game starts with Artyom living in the Metro, a group of train stations and underground factions (Reds, Communists, Rangers, etc) all battling it out with each other for supremacy.. but the Rangers try to remain neutral.

The graphics in the Redux are very good, with smooth visuals, lots and lots of details, and is perfect for the sense of forbidden and foreboding and impending danger and doom. All suited to a nuclear wasteland. You can travel to the surface but will be liable to die without a gas mask so you will have to be quick above ground.

The music is low key and suited to the enviroment. Sound effects are very good. Dialog, good but not great. I like the fact that Artyom does not talk, thus leaving it to your imagination.

The game is a mixture of horror, suspense, survival, and a deep and rewarding story line.

I highly recommend this game. It is on rails, unlike the sandbox Metro Exodus, but playing it is very rewarding.

As a side note, I personally enjoy this game more then the follow up, Shadow of War. Here the orcs/urak kai are more realistic looking and flashed out. Both tgames mentioned are great but here I feel a little more warm and fuzzy about the overall gameplay and visuals, including the audio - all of which are great though this is a 2011 game.

About mid-way through the game are you then permitted to "brand" the orcs to your side for some incredible nemesis like action being deployed by you yourself or the games auto mechanics. This leads to sometime hilarious circumstances and outcomes.

This game should be in everyone's library - it is just that good.

Buggy game, yes.. on rails, yes.. easy to jump to your death, YES!!.. but still scratches that fun tickle spot just right - if you can look past the 2008 style like graphics and barely servicable audio. Get it cheap! I would like to see the game reworked with this bugs/bad design glitches fixed then it might be something spectacular!

I've played both the original and now the remastered/re-reckoned version and most recommendations for this game applies to both. There are literally hundreds of hours here of lore (some say even more), hours and hours of quests, vibrant and detailed visuals (more so in this version), and excellent voice characters, sounds, cues, and music - all fit the ambience and mood perfectly. The only downside is that a lot of the story telling is pretty linear, you can't stray too far off the path as it holds your hand. Nonetheless, character customizations is yours to play with a fitting style for most people present, and every which way between. Highly recommended, even at a lofty price.
