A mix of wonderful zen experiences and ridiculously frustrating puzzles. Even when you know what you're meant to do, it's often still annoying to get there.

Could have been great, but really needed more play testing before release.

And the achievements require you to play every day for a whole year, which is just wrong

I'll probably keep playing because I hate myself, but you shouldn't

Insanely addictive once you really get started. Initially the controls can feel a little clunky as you can't cancel animations with dashes, so it can feel less responsive that snappier platformers like Hollow Knight or Dead Cells. But it's more like the combat in Dark Souls where you need to learn to plan your attacks and movement carefully. Once you get good the game really starts to shine, and you start to understand and appreciate the mechanics behind everything.

There's a staggering amount of content here, with 110 (!!) unlocks for items and characters. The item selection is honestly the best I've ever seen in a roguelike, often giving you tough decisions where you're trading survivability for damage, and sometimes the payoff won't come until you've survived longer than you might be capable of. That one rare item could be exactly the edge you need to progress further, or it could be the self-inflicted nail in your coffin. But it's always up to you how much you risk, and how often.

There are some great synergies here too. For example, you might find an item that gives you a huge damage buff when your "Jump" stat is high, then find an outfit that gives you a ridiculous amount of Jump... but if you take a single hit, that's it, it's gone. Luckily, as you learn more about the stats and get better at dealing with the more troublesome enemies, you'll find new ways to sustain your power for even longer.

The characters are incredibly varied too. All of them beyond the initial character have quirks and caveats that make them a joy to master. To be honest, my favourite characters are probably the ones I'm the least skilled with, they're just that interesting.

My only complaint is that the bosses can be huge spikes in difficulty. The earlier ones can be easily conquered once you learn their patterns, but the later ones fill the screen with enemies and hazards, and it can feel more like a DPS race than a strategic battle. But with a good amount of experience and a little bit of luck, you can often brute force your way through any barrier that blocks your progress.

I am so glad I discovered this game through Blobfish's recent hit Brotato. It's charming, hard, funny and bursting with creativity and careful considerations. The developer's success with Brotato is more than deserved, and this title absolutely deserves more attention.

Short and sweet, just the right amount of challenging and doesn't overstay its welcome.

Improves on the original in every way possible. Has a crazy amount of content and player choice: every character could have their own game, and I'm still finding powerful new synergies with the various weapons, traits, passives and relics.

This game is MASSIVE, and there's something here for everyone. Easily 10/10.

Frequently updated with balance adjustments, and the devs are also active on Discord, and are very quick to address bugs. Also has great accessibility options, so it never gets too difficult to progress.

It's good, but the the items are pretty limited and the bosses are dull. The RNG can get pretty bad too.

Price is a bit high for what's on offer atm, after about 10 runs you'll probably see everything.

I'm giving a positive review for now, but only because I believe in the devs to make this better. It has a long way to go but the updates have been coming pretty quickly so far.

Great gameplay, but the decision to make the graphics less accessible works against it. I can't play for long before getting eye fatigue (which I never knew was a thing before this game).

I've also hit a wall with a boss where it seems like they insta-kill you if you're not standing in the right place, which is hard to see because, again, it's difficult to parse the visuals when you've been staring at what looks like the same thing for ages.

It feels bad rating this down, because everything aside from the visuals is amazing, exactly my kind of game, with a core mechanic that's novel and incredibly satisfying. But it's still a visual slog. Metal: Hellsinger shows how much better it could have looked.

If they hadn't decided to make everything blend into itself, this would have been an easy thumbs up, but that one bad decision has such a detrimental effect that I really can't recommend this.

(And it really doesn't help when the devs have been snarky on Twitter about players who have this issue. With most of the negative reviews mentioning this, it's not a good move to be a d**k about it on your socials. We just want to enjoy your game, there's no need to be rude to us. Skill Up's YouTube review even said explicitly that this issue WILL turn off a lot of players, warning the devs ahead of time. And what do you know, they weren't wrong.)

TL;DR: As much as I love the gameplay, I need to be able to actually see what I'm looking at.

Love it so far. The gameplay is pretty good, but the big selling point is the tone and the inventiveness. Several times, just in my first half an hour, I've said "wow!" as I've found some cool new thing to attack with.

Really good, I hope I don't get distracted and stick with this to see what else it has to offer.

Short and sweet, very fun while it lasts. Often has deep discounts.

Pretty good. Short but cheap. It stood out more when it first came out, still worthwhile.

Split into 3 types of gameplay: The pony jumping (mouse-based and unique), some light puzzles (hard enough to feel proud when solving), and discovery, which comes from from prodding around an interface to uncover secrets.

Definitely worth it on sale.
