First 30 mins: This is the worst game possible.
First hour: Ok it's a pretty horrible game, but it's kind of fun.
Second hour: This game is great.
Third hour: This is my favourite game.

I thought my controls were broken for the first hour or so, literally fell every corner and every jump. Could barely get moving without doing random flips and 360s. By the 2h mark things began to click, suddenly I was doing laps and the game actually felt exciting. 3rd hour I jumped into online races and had an absolute blast. Glad I gave it a fair go and kept trying.

Originally when this released it was a bit lacking in features and realism. I didn't clock many hours before getting bored and feeling like it was all very stale. But after a few months off returning to the game is actually enjoyable, and you can see the work put in by the developers.

This game takes some getting used to, a lot like the Squad and Arma games. A steep learning curve might initially deter new players, but once you get the hang of the core concepts and gameplay style it becomes increasingly enjoyable. You'll see it time and time again, but a good squad (not necessarily good at playing, but just good at talking and actively TRYING to do something) is the key to a fun match. I'm yet to have a loss that feels annoying/bad, typically the battles last a long time with a bit of back and forward between the teams. I've seen one steamroll and even then it was fun attempting to hold back a vastly superior enemy team.

I mean it's Age of Empires, one of the best RTS games out there. A bit old and outdated now but it's one of those games that's great to have in your library. However now that AOEII DE is out I'd suggest buying that over AOE3.

Great game for an early access title. I haven't played for a month or so as I'm waiting for some new and exciting content to be released but previously I found the game to be a tonne of fun. In order to be successfull you must be willing to work as a team and know/enjoy the basics of sailing.
