Would I have paid attention to this game if I hadn't gotten a free key? Definitely not.
Would I recommend this game after trying it out? Absolutely yes.

If you like math & puzzles this game is for you.
I might even say it would be great for kids do some exercise but... its a bit bizarre.
Its cute but also morbid game.
The levels start easy but as you progress it gets more complicated.
Nice graphics & sound, overall good design.

Soooul!!!!

Definitivamente no.

Soooul!!!

Galaga was one of the main titles in the early days of the ARCADE.
It was the successor of Galaxian, which I personally played more assiduously.
A must-have in any ARCADES store, even in the 90s, a true classic.
However, my favorite of this type of ARCADE was Gyruss, what a big game!

Now then, do you want to know how was the experience of going to the ARCADES in the 80s and early 90s?
You needed to buy coins, so if you were a kid, you should ask your parents for some money.
Let's say you bought 5 coins, if you decided to play GALAGA with all of them, you could feel overly proud if you had more than half an hour of fun.
This did not happen with all ARCADES (and some of which were played coop gave you the possibility to survive a little longer), but with most of them.
You inserted a coin and after five minutes you were out.
Games were hard as hell!
Basically the owner of ARCADES' shop bought or rented machines and then had to recover his investment and get his profits by selling coins. Generally there were not hundreds of machines in the store, but the owner needed to sell hundreds of coins per hour to make his business profitable, which of course would translate into fate of guys who were going to play would have: leave with butt hurt quickly ... or go buy more coins )
Quick and clean: some ARCADES were the real Prepare to die edition™
So you know what's waiting for you if you haven't tried GALAGA yet: die, die and die.

Luckily this version allows you to edit some options, like choosing which level to start from once you have unlocked it, or starting with 5 lives instead of 3. This will make your games not count for global leaderboards but it will be absolutely necessary for more than 90% of players be able to explore beyond level 10.
Save Game option is also useful for completing bonus levels perfectly.
It really is the only utility that I see about save function in this title.
Ergo, what other purpose might have option to save a game which if it goes very well may last 10 or 15 minutes for most of mortals?

Recommended for nostalgics or for those who are interested in the history of video games.

Champions moves is an excellent addition to the Zen Chess universe.
In this delivery we find 150 games carefully selected by the editor, which have as a common factor to be beautiful combinations executed by chess world champions.
By far this, the selection of games, is what gives more value to the game.
Really an excellent collection of games, most famous, where you must decipher fantastic attacks carried out by each and every one of the world champions, including pseudo champions aswell.
From Steinitz, Lasker, Capablanca and Alekhine, through Botvinnik, Smyslov, Tal, Petrosian, Spassky and Fischer to Karpov, Kasparov, Kramnik, Anand and Carlsen.
A journey through the history of chess from the end of the 19th century to the present day.
Logically, due to its style of play, exercises of some champions such as Kasparov, Karpov, Tal and Carlsen are more common than those of the rest.
The game is designed to reject any move other than the one made in the game in question and the author has faithfully transcribed each of the 150 games.
This means, as is to be expected in chess games of the highest level, that the game (and thus the exercise) will very rarely culminate in a checkmate, since against a situation of inevitable mate most of the adversaries will abandon 2,3,5,10 or even more movements before.
Now, if exercise does not culminate in checkmate (as happens in 90% of cases) the game gives you the option to press a key to continue, before moving on to the next exercise, thus allowing you to appreciate the final position of the board.
Unfortunately that single image, in some cases, is not enough to find all edges of potential checkmate once exercise was resolved, at least for me, as simple amateur who already stopped actively practicing chess many years ago.
I mean, I solved exercise correctly and the game announces that Black gives up because there is a checkmate in my favor in n moves; in some cases resolving that checkmate correctly in n moves is still a challenge!
So, either to analyze possible variants to execute checkmate once exercise is finished on a board instead of in my head, or simply to delve deeper into the games I frequently found myself using Alt+Tab, opening a browser, looking for the game in chessgames and analyzing it on the website instead of doing inside the game.
As I said, I fully understand that:
a) author has faithfully respected all the games he has quoted, in movements and resolution (mate/abandon).
b) that exercise itself consists in discovering or gestation of the attack/combination/sacrifice/unexpected play that ends up decanting destiny of game rather than executing a checkmate sequence.
Anyway, I allow myself to make a suggestion to the developer, even if it is for future projects:
Once exercise is finished, when it is announced that Black abandons due a checkmate in n movements, it would be good to have option "continue to checkmate"/"go next level" available.
I understand that this involves programming some extra moves but it would greatly improve gaming experience and make it more enjoyable.
Otherwise, many times it will turn out that, in spite of correctly solving exercise, you will be left with the desire to fully understand the "mate net".
That option, or even having the possibility of moving pieces on board freely once exercise is over, replacing the option "click to continue" with a click on a specific place on the screen.
In this way it would be possible to analyze in greater depth exercises already solved before going directly to the next one.
I highly recommend this game to any chess fan or amateur.
And if in addition to solving exercises correctly you take the job of looking in depth for the games from which they were taken, in places like chessgames or similar, I assure you that the experience will be, at least, doubly rewarding.

My greatest encouragement in writing this review is to invite my friends and those who read this to not doubt in getting this game.
SOMA offers a unmatched experience in the world of video games.
Although it is a short game (you will finish it in about 10 hours) and does not present any complexity, this is not relevant.
Neither are the monsters, which are even superfluous, unnecessary.
The horror does not come from them, it comes from history and from the decisions and situations you will have to go through.
Much more a Sci-Fi than a horror game, with a literally exceptional story and a depth worthy of a Best Seller.
Beautiful graphics in an underwater world and a great ambient sound accompany you during the journey in this exploration game where you will have to rummage here and there to reconstruct the story in small fragments, as I said nothing of the other world, but still it doesn't matter! The script is on another level, even philosophical I would encourage myself to say...
Soma invites us to examine the concept of what it is to be a human, along with the scabrous complicity that precisely human might not become the keyword that defines us as such.

In Beat Cop's trailer we see Kojak, Columbo, Magnum & Miami Vice... We're in the 80's!
But none of that, nor Sledge Hammer himself, you are Jack Kelly, a NYPD detective who has been demoted to street police after a confusing robbery of a senator's house...
You have 3 weeks to solve the case while you fulfill your role as a street cop.
From where I start? For God's sake, what a 3 weeks! What a street!
This game is a rare mixture, gameplay is very original. We are talking about an adventure with retro graphics where decisions matter, with a main story and daily secondary missions every day of the 3 weeks that at most will last the game (21 days) full of jokes, very funny! But it's also a time and resource management game. As if that weren't enough, there is also a reputation system with different factions and many different endings. All at rhythm of small (only 4 tracks) but exquisite soundtrack set in the 80's. An explosive cocktail!
Believe me if I tell you that only street you walk day after day from 8 am to 5 pm in this game has life of its own. Unbelievable! Congratulations to the developers, you've did it great.
I don't want to spoil anything, I will try to refer to some general aspects or funny things that are not relevant to the story.
As a street cop you will have to fine vehicles (you can take bribes but beware! Someone might be watching) and stop vandalism, also there will be other specific daily tasks. Besides, there will be neighbors and shopkeepers on the block who will require your help through hilarious situations. And new "friends" who will be introduced to you on the first day: the Italian mafia and the Ni@ga crew.
Somehow you'll have to try to get well with everyone which obviously won't be easy, all this while trying to solve the mystery of what happened that night in the senator's house.
Come on, in that street you can do whatever you want literally (all with its consequences). You're a cop, of course there's free food, you'll need it to get from one end of street to the other in a blink if there's a problem. Well you can eat but you can also buy dope to block's dealer, if its of the good one its going to get you on top... or you can be a good cop and arrest dealer, but remember, next time you want to buy will be more expensive or maybe you do not get the good one )
If you're in bad terms with the Italians or Ni@ga's Crew you could end up dead in an alley, but there's an alternative! Priest of Block's Church, who gives himself with amphetamine, can calm their spirits for a few hundred dollars.
I would name another endless number of things to highlight that happen in this game but the best thing is that you buy it, discover it and enjoy it for yourselves.

If you liked Layers of Fear and you have already taken out the whole game, then this DLC is essential to finish the story.
You will return to the mansion, some time later, as the (grown) daughter of the painter.
Although the duration is shorter than the original game and there are fewer puzzles, it's worth it to make the story more concise, less ambivalent.
Again, as in the main game, there will be different paths to take that will lead to different endings and again, as in the main game, there will be an end to which it won't be easy to reach.... Your Inheritance maybe?

Tu Herencia quizas?

As an amateur of painting and art history in general, I was obviously attracted to this game where you play the role of a painter. Although the description given on the store page speaks of 19th century masterpieces this is not correct at all. The collection includes paintings from the Renaissance (15th century) and Mannerism (16th century), mainly Early Netherlandish painting, and Baroque paintings (17th and early 18th centuries) as well. In fact most of the works are not from the 19th century. Anyway I think it's an excellent selection for what the game is. As expected Goya's paintings abound, obviously from his darkest period, Black Paintings series and Rembrandt's as well. The inclusion of Bosch is appreciated, unavoidable.
I would say the game is psychedelic rather than horror, which personally is not bad in my opinion.
Graphics, soundtrack and ambience in general are very good.
You are a painter who has gained some prestige. Egoist. Delirious. Drunk. Well, no doubt you have skills common to hundreds of painting-geniuses :P
Your mission is to complete your Magnum Opus and for it you will have to go across your mansion through 6 chapters.
The essence of this game at least in my opinion is the story, which you must discover through notes, mementos, sketches and flashbacks that occurs when interact with different objects.
The funny thing is that your mansion becomes a kind of maze of different rooms in each chapter.
Decisions you make, objects or mementos you interact with, and paths you choose will result in your Magnum Opus ending. Although the chapters are not long and even after re-playing it a couple of times it is very possible that you will have the sensation of being in limbo... you will always arrive at the same end, going around in circles.
Even though there is a certain logic to detach from loop end and thus reach the other two endings (easier one than the other), there are some "traps" that are difficult to avoid and can condemn you to enter on the loop. If necessary consult the guide, but do not miss all the finals and thus know all the layers of history.
Having said that and without wanting to spoil anything I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys exploration games and puzzles. I liked it, it has entertained me for some hours and its history has captivated me.
Perhaps the only negative point is that it consumes more system resources than it should.

*For those who are interested in the end of the review will find links to screenshots of some of paintings included in the game.

Fun rail shooter game, kinda tower defense aswell.
Its suppose that ISIS is invading Europe, well forget that bullshet.
The game doesn't have any kind of history, so it's not relevant either.
Nice graphics, good physics & animations.
Very fun gameplay, action everywhere.
Soundtrack is weak but you can set Slayer's discography on background for full experience.
I liked "assistant"'s voice lines, guy who informs you when you can call reinforcements.
There are 4 maps: beach head, airport, harbor & seaside city.
There are also 4 skill tree you must upgrade: player, machinegun, rocket launcher & support.
Finally as you kill, you can ask for reinforcements: supply (boxes with rockets & meds), infantry, artillery, airstrike & the choppa.
First few hours can be a bit frustrating, until you farm upgrades, dying every 3 minutes.
That's because your health is low, must manualy move machine gun which have low firepower & damage, also need to reload it, your rocket launcher is slower than turtle & you dont even have time to call support.
Once you max out all trees you can really start enjoying the game.
You have fun guaranteed for 10 hours at least, because gameplay becomes a little repetitive after sometime.
There's some strategy as well: still when you have your skills maxed out you can't survive too much minutes without some help. That's where you have to choose when and who to call depending on the situation.
Every map have his taste:
Sicilian beach is my fav since remind me a game that I played when was a kid.
Spanish harbor is easiest imo but still have good flankers.
Croatian airpot is challenging with enemies from every side.
Finally Saint Tropez its like above but with high speed suicide vans that can suprise you at any time from anywhere.
If you have problem to survive for 10/20 mins I suggest that you focus on support.
Always have infantry around and call it as much as you can, try have active artillery (very helpful when you get flanked) & chopper as much as possible. In contrast airstrike is only useful on beach or if you're in an emergency and your infantry has been severely damaged, otherwise avoid it because it will kill your men aswell.
If you have some backup you won't have to order supplies too often, just to stock some rockets & to have 1/2 med boxes on floor, which also you'll need little.
Definitively recommended if you like this kind of games (remember that you are in a fixed position, can rotate but you can't move).

Overall, 12 is Better Than 6 it's a fun game to play.
It's a western's top-down 2D shooter, full of shorts levels on which you can combine both stealth & loud gameplay and it requires some strategy as well.

The Good

- Great art style.
- Very detailed graphics.
- Very detailed environment which also react to both your shoots & movement (you can walk over a bucket, which will spill water, that may attract the attention of nearby enemy or some who patrols the area, for example)
- Unique combat system: you must prepare your gun before each shot, so aim and shoot becomes ready, aim, fire. You gotta reload, move and hide fast aswell to not get overruned by many enemies.
- Short levels but with intense gunplay.
- Great soundtrack, some awesome songs like this:

- Difficulty (only one on game) it's appropriate, AI is challenging. One mistake & you are dead my friend.
- Good history, its a western, What do you expect?
- Few but enough weapons variety, again What other kind of weapons do you intend on Wild West?
- Fun & nice upgrades, special mention for homing tnt rats!
- Duration of the game is suitable.
- You are a vato loco killing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

The Bad

- Tutorial sucks, some game mechanics are not well explained.
- Game does not have the option to save, you only can continue current gameplay, or start from any act/episode that you already unlocked but without your progress (weapons, money, hats).
Dear Developers, this is essential, at least have just one slot, just in case... I mean its good idea to have a backup. And in my case, as I'll explain later I would need that back up so as not have to waste a few hours.
- Few, but some bugs: got stuck a couple of times & also on my first playthrough I wasnt able to progress on history: By 2nd act I was able to complete only side-missions (which are a bit repetive btw). After finish more than 6 side missions I figured something was wrong and guess what? Continue current gameplay does not fix problem, it would have been very easy to recover my progress through back up....

The Ugly

- Finally, after get my gameplay got bugged, I decided to restart over again since start, insomuch as there is an achivement, Lord of hats, that requires you to find hats along the levels. Wrong choice: after find last hat achievement doesnt pop-up...
I had to load a chapter in which there was a hat and pick it up and die over and over again until it pop-up.
So I really felt like I wasted some time with this game, restarting whole gameplay for something that doesn't work the way it's supposed to. So there are definitely some problems with saving player progress although I can understand that surely my case was not the most common.

On the balance the things I didn't like are minor compared to what the game has to offer.
About price, I personally bought it with a huge discount but I don't think full price is inadequate, although since implementation of prices per region on steam, that only counts for my region ofc.

All right, this is gonna be the easiest review I've ever done in my whole life.

1) Open your favorite browser
2) Browse with your favorite search engine
3) Type "Best Graphic Adventures of All Time"
4) Hit Enter
5) Navigate through the results.

You will find this title in almost all the lists made by sites of up to a minimum reputation (maybe is not at Tito's Blog).
And besides, this title will be at the top in more than half of them.

So it really doesn't matter what I think of it
it really doesn't matter what you think of it
it really doesn't matter what ppl who gives thumbs down thinks of it

This title was, is, and will be, one of the greatest graphic adventure of all time.
