Deep Rock Galactic satisfies my personal need for churning through rock voraciously while screaming in a horribly offensive Scottish accent about bloody alien bugs ruining my perfectly good strip mining approach.

But also, like, beards, mustaches, and mutton chop aesthetics.

Deep Rock Galactic is a serious contender for 2020 Game of the Year, and the glut of free content updates has guilted me into purchasing all of the cosmetic DLC.

tldr: It's like Futuristic Open World Tomb Raider with Robot Dinosaurs and Tribalism. Get it!

One of the best open world RPG games I have ever played. Aloy is an incredible and well-written hero. If you've ever been through the experience of helping people whose knowledge is far behind yours, you can deeply relate to her frustration, but her compassion and desire to help shine through and bring her around to a deep and likeable main character.

The lore is a wonderful almagamation of futurism, sci-fi, and (slight) satire of modern day with loads of things to discover and enjoy, presented by top-tier voice acting and writing.

You may get frustrated at first - adjust the difficulty setting down, and be patient. The game will often contradict dialogue with what its trying to teach (aka an NPC will say "measure your pacing and take your time" when instead the quest requires you to go as fast as possible) - chalk that up to design not talking to writing clearly in some minor cases.

Some minor gripes for the devs: The animation system has all of the issues of today's sequencer-based tooling, and so it's hard to read enemy movements until you get used to them. The terrain/mobility system has the player and the mounts getting stuck on the smallest things, making movement often very frustrating. The WASD translation to analog movement is a bit off - adding a little longer ramp-off to the velocity would help.

All in all, 10/10.
