2D $uper M4ri0 Lesbians

This game is a love letter to the sidescrollers of old, with a touch of contemporary designs - and, yes, modern takes on relationships (eat my whole /hi HR/, haters).

The fact that it also comes with a native (ish) Linux version is just icing on the already delicious cake.

Thank you for catering to neckbeards, Kitsune Games. It's appreciated.

This gacha game works on Steam Deck / Proton / Linux no-questions-asked. I'm legitimately surprised.

I'm not far into the game so this might have changed since, but having the story progression divided in extremely small levels (relatively speaking), betrays the more "mobile game" nature of this game - not that it's bad in itself, the devs will do what's most profitable for them. It's just a bit jarring to have an artificially halted story progression in a third-person shooter on PC.

With only 3 or so hours playing this, I can at least say it's not bad. And since it runs on Deck/Proton/Linux, I can at least say the devs aren't hostile to "not windows", which is super based.

I completed the OG story, then NG+'d the Royal content. And the extended content, FIRST OF ALL, was about mental health, and second, it actually approached the topic in a way that makes sense in the game's universe.

Some may not like the Royal content, but IMO what it adds to the game is actually great..

It looks and feels like a Mass Effect 1 Fan Game. Not that it's good or bad, but I feel like the hate for it is unwarranted.

Additionally, I cleared it playing on Linux, using Proton Mainline, Experimental and GE builds, with nigh no issues. Origin gave me some pain but nothing game-breaking.

Not 48h in, nerds found fixes for what was incomplete in the Proton layer and got one of the most important franchises of my youth to run reliably on Linux.

Needless to say, I'm having loads of fun.

To make a long story short: this is the first game that I've had no issue buying full-price on Launch Day (on Linux). The gameplay, while different from Civ5 and Civ:BE, is nonetheless an interesting change, and the graphic style is interesting. to say the least.

If you have some time to burn and want a lo-spec, fast-paced, rogue-like/strategy game, this is the thing to buy. And its difficulty style is based on "ye olde normal", which is today's Legendary difficulty.

Have fun!
