"Your food is rotton.'' Thought it was some misspelled spanish translation for "mice", but it was just an english misspelling for "rotten" in the game. Edited: They fixed many misspellings, giving the game this fresh looking that they're actually caring about it.

Game is currently was laggy as hell, technical issues on last update. As if your card or ram meant nothing and your internet went back to the dial era. Unresponsive and imprecise combat only gets worse with lags. The world doesn't have enough NPCs nor players so everything is feeling lifeless so it needs adjustments really fast and not to mention those bullshots that doesn't match the reality. You may blame the Yersinia pestis but this emptiness isn't on purpose. There isn't much details so don't expect much for now. We understand why, but c'mon the game is out for a while now.

15/07/2017
Some of those old problems I've mentioned are over, some still the same. They worked on animations a bit more and on character models, but the game still feels heavily raw. It is starting to feel as if the early access is taking too much time to be performed and become middle to final and remains in some altered alpha - for way too long.

So why I'm giving it a thumb? Crafting and leveling so far are fun enough... this game doesn't make use of zombies or aliens in the theme like hundred other survivals. The Black Death areas got a warning symbol so it is bizarre and interesting, survival in this game does has potential to hit one day. But I got this feeling the game was ditched somehow, or just very slow progress. This kind of originality deserves a chance anyway. Unless they waste it all with rotton programming.

I really want to see how things will end up for this game in a distant near future. But my hopes are fading but I've heard the devs aren't giving up. So yep, I got the game's point. Game works. Sometimes. But I'm leaving for now and I do plan to come back.

A letter for the future generation of gamers and the newcomer

If you're reading this to check if the game is worthy, no matter how many years have passed since then, I wish you to know that I'm representing many Mass Effect fans out there and that my words are the actual representation of what we all feel, for I believe this game will stand the test of time.

You're about to experience the ultimate word on story-telling sophistication, like any classics before it did to remain immortal. The game itself had a lot of technical problems which includes too much ''loading screens'' of about everything you do or walk, wrong faced player camera after a cutscene and even some other design problems, but you may consideer all this unavoidable during the year 2008. Mass Effect was ahead of his times and all ambitious projects are prone to technical problems. What we advise you to do however, is to tolerate all the flaws at first because you will understand soon or later, if given the chance, why this game has created the best and biggest fans in gaming's history. You won't find such friendly people in other games.

Sometimes we just don't want to mumble about technical problems because we strongly believe it isn't just about that and it isn't really important. I refuse to highlight all of the cons and compromise what you're about to experience so I decided to keep things short and objective with the honesty about what really matters. This is coming from an gamer that hates bad programming.

What we all experienced, some at first hand or few trials later:

  • Characters feels real, because they got too many lines and intricate personality. Soon you forget they're fictious and as they're part of your team, your first instinct is to care about them - or hate them - just so you know how perfectly they were written.

It is so ridiculously good that this applies even for lesser NPCs you don't regularly interact with.

  • The original soundtrack is the work of a master, every single piece of song fits perfectly on any ocassion in-game. All brought to you by Sam Hullick and Jack Wall which they got some inspiration from the 80s sci-fi movies, the best classical source for sci-fi. Such as Blade Runner.

  • The plot was written firstly by Drew Karpyshyn, the real mastermind behind it and it was based on what really works; unexpected turn arounds. No one believes in you but your real friends and that creates this sense of heroism with commitment never done by any game before it. After he left the series, not much hope was left.

  • As with the beginning of the series, ME1 as we call it is literally more RPG than Action. But the action is there and the tactics you can implement are a hybrid mouisture of dexterity with turn-battles when you pause time. It was really similar to KOTOR 2 on all rights.

  • When the music M4 Part II from Faunts plays with the staff roll, you know what you just experienced was an miracle. The proof human creativity, team work and artistic design has literally no limits nor bounds when they're given freedom and the result of that work remains on you.

  • Every game needs personality and an soul. The sophistication I speak about was achieved through the narrative almost in the totallity of it and the majority of your experience will be triggered by human emotions - from the music, plot and the characters and the events e situation - for and to you directly. It's a Bioware signature since ever but better on Mass Effect.

  • There are many positive things left we can't just express if we want to keep this letter on medium and wouldn't ever fit in here.

Farewell. Take good care and always respect this game.

In this letter I wish to write here for the record, so far great promises are coming from Mass Effect Andromeda which is almost releasing. Edited after Andromeda's release: If some of us aren't too happy, you can blame Electronic Arts. We saw it all coming. During Mass Effect 3 closure to our beloved series, they commited an series of abominable mistakes such as rushing the game and its ending for the sake of their gains and also for pure incompetence. We used to respect Bioware better in the past, but the brain power and attitude they used to have seems to have been sold deliberately. Some simply leaved them.

Whatever had happened before and whatever awaits for us up ahead, It is here were it all began and will forever lives in our hearts.

Earth born, Survivor, Infiltrator. Balanced alligment, lesbian rejected by Tali. My name was written on the stars by an Asari archeologist. A Turian marksman was my second in command. Synthesis was the solution.
Shepard to Andromeda Initiative の投稿を引用:
We have not other choice but to thrive.

Sincerely, Raziel - Signing off.

2021: original recommendation edited for curator's new page.

First, let's roast someone before the review

I like Alien Isolation but I have no respect for the main director Alistair Hope, this guy obviously knows sh*t about it and his development team probably did all his work on his place. He said that ''horror and the survival genre" were banalized by games like Dead Space (he meant the series) and the violence and action suffered with it. That was a load of crap. Tell me about banalization 21st Century Fox... Colonial Marines was your idea. I wish I could have said that publicly but better late than never, you and your publishers were just full of sh*t.

Now the review

Most games you play were created after the engine, ultimately leaving it with creative limitations of that engine followed by many cuts of contents. ‎Wright Bagwell and Dead Space's main writters ‎Warren Ellis, Rick and Antony were the only guys at the time to have enough balls to go for the opposite direction, creating the plot first then the engine later, based on the idea - according to his words himself you can find googling and on Youtube, blowing the genre and changing industry's rules like gods.

The best example is when Wright Bagwell and his top people decided to insert a malevolent organism grabbing the main character by his legs, in the middle of the development. They had to rewrite some basics shooting mechanics, because of a simple idea they had to delay the process, but the engine answered back to then the way it was intended. That's just good creativity and talent ploughing through no matter the cost. That's what I like to hear.

Maybe that's why the scary jumpy moments still works and why it feels so mature during every scene and event. Voice acting is absurdly good and it was probably the first game to take motion capture so seriously. Screams from the Necromorph are ridiculously well done. "There is no scape" feeling precedes that. Even if I dislike Dead Space 3 so much, the studio works can still be seen there. There is a mature horror thing in the series that were done just too right.

What I really like in this piece

Avoiding doing it as a first person view game was a terrific idea, period. You can see games like RE4 above the shoulder camera doing the same thing, when done right, it is even better.

  1. Save-game is done in a fair way, it is one of those old cases where the place to do it is the only place in the game you can take a breath.

  2. Intuitive level design really makes it looking like a industrial accident in the middle of space, inventory thing and other stuff only the best games of the genre used to have.

  3. Perpetual feeling of desolation. Main character is a underdog, a technician using mining tools as guns - which are fun to evolve and the modifications are quite entertaining.

  4. Sound effects are rude in an excellent way - you're always worried about the sounds, not even the guns eases your pathetic safe-zone (it worsens the case actually). Necromorph's screams are also terrific.

  5. Real dead bodies from multiple types of obit had to be studied by the developers to better design dilacerated human bodies in-game.

  6. Game's plot is great and it confuses you a lot, in a good way.

It's incredible how those sci-fi machinery can look and feel dead serious to mess with. This constant feeling of ''The fakk I will survive this thing?" persists with everything you do and walk on. If you think I'm exaggerating, only after a time I came to know about a mind blowing secret from the game. By now you may already know about the bathroom thing, but I will blur it all here because it wasn't just there... It's actually scattered all around USG Ishimura. Not just audible but also visually.

NOT REALLY SPOILERS BUT I'LL BLUR SOME OF IT ANYWAY

During the entire game some brillant form of subliminal voice and textures were running on the background and later on I came to know about the creepy whispers. They were so low you couldn't really hear or make sense out of it. Now... this explain why the game was always scary even when nothing was happening. Even the video running behind the main menu had something "off" about it, well it was real meat decomposing and filmed by a camera.

ID Software was reluctant to use those techniques on Doom 3, they were affraid about accusations from someone too sensible or something, but Eastwood Studios didn't gave a sh*t. The symbols on walls aren't just symbols, they're an actual hidden language. The fictious group Unithology is clearly some sort of Scienthology religion bullsh*t which only helps the game to feel mature and crazy real, like our crazy world. When you find this out you'll start to realize that the enemy may or may not be exactly what you think, fantastic writing.

It is already an old game, so what to expect?

The usual, outdated bunch of things that needs consideration if going to play it, specially in much modern systems and even operational system. Expect limitations during options, unless you abide and ride it the way it can run. If you run into any problem, consider looking for mods to counter that (because EA is definitely not going to do that for you).

PROBLEMS YOU MAY SEE IF YOU PLAY IT TODAY

  1. Some paralell actions like operating a turret for firing at asteroids will feel clumky as hell and you may have to try those mechanics a million times before getting through it. Not everything aged very well (they were never fair back the day even), including that.

  2. At some point, things will feel like overstaying your welcoming. In particular I think the boss fights haven't aged as well as the horror and survival mechanics in general but still fun.

  3. Game came out by 2008 so expect some clunky mechanics and outdated graphics, old ideas like non-voiced main character (later improved and evolved in the sequel) and things like that.

Final Score: 8.9/10

WHAT TO DO WITH EA AND DEAD SPACE 3

Just flush it, push the discharge button and make it flow within the sewer system. Every game EA puts her greedy hands on, they manage destroy it somehow. If you want the truth, you don't even need Dead Space 3. It's just some cool action game that failed to deliver the basics of survival horror... Maybe mister Alister is right after all?

I won't ever recommend you Dead Space 3 unless you love action and coop. To horror (as the series belongs to) then it is simply a fakking joke. You need to be alone to be scared, so if you play the third game alone you will laugh instead, for characters teleporting during the cutscenes (you won't have a AI controlled companion). This is how low Dead Space became.

Second review with the sole intention to recap
I still don't see many friends with DOOM 2016 and also, I fear some oldschool still don't want the new stuff. Some may not know and some may be skeptical. Many free content has come, so it's time to redo my review. Just a warning though, my pleasing comes from the actual content not from blind love.

A glimpse of how they're respecting oldies. (No Romero's head was found inside)
http://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=823395747

I was skeptic about DOOM for three reasons some might have now.
  1. They decided to reboot it again for the third time (Doom 64 counts)
  2. Jumping around horizontally and vertically just seemed incompatible or silly. People told me fatalities would worn off quickly.
  3. Bethesda was publishing the game and I could already smell their corrupt quality control.

Reboot isn't just good, it's necessary
Fun with Doom never really depended on some incredible story and nice plot. I still believe Doom 3 should have been a survival, but this version is an honest no-brainer shooter, intelligently made to fit any ''canon'' from any version and feels welcoming for everyone. The script really resembles all the cheesy from movies like Evil Dead. ''Baron of Hell'' which has a familiar design is now catalogued as "the royal guard of the dark lord of the fourth age" and I know why, it is just fun without big mysteries, sounds like generic fantasy making use of elements to look promising yet purposely vague. Not always, there is a clear repetition of Doom's 3 plot. Remember Sargent Kelly's repetitive orders "Get to the Bravo team"? Samuel Hayden just assumed his boring role. At least his voice acting is marvelous and saves the plot.

http://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=824264048

"We don't need story on Doom anyway" says another skeptical next door. So why you know who DoomGuy is? Plot is always needed, but Intricate plot is another league and Doom will never be intricate. So let us all shut up so we can hear the magic.

Straight Outta K.I.
DOOM music is right on where it belongs; On the deepths of molten metal, and its glorious. Old games had to rely on some heardable distraction due visual limitations, but ID managed to rearrange that, music is again the shining star. Burning Media Player to hear your songs doesn't work that well. When you hear metal with synths and epic choirs in-game, you can feel just as bad@ss as DoomGuy. There are many remixes from the old versions scattered around, but don't google it. Let the game remind you. Mick Gordon from the 1st and 2nd season of Killer Instinct was definitelly the right choice.

Doom remains about combat and graphics
The gameplay is a ♥♥♥#ng blast! Every single combat is a mix between Dead Simple & Ever Simpler (I mean its blood boiling ultra-violence) now perfected with brutal weaponry - all of them has second fire modes. Id Tech is on its devil number version and it doesn't impress me that much. You can evolve DoomGuy's armor, but some of those powers are optional and you can tweak many of them. Meaning if you just want to gun them down like old times, you Just have to turn the ''Glory Kill'' reminder off in the options. On Doom 64 you had to find 3 special powerups to become stronger Three Ancient Artifacts and that idea has evolved to the Three Runes here. Some fatalities animations are way too fast and sometimes it can feel mandatory. All previous Doom made this one, even Seargent Mark's mod Brutal Doom found its way and its so much fun I will abstain from criticism.

http://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=827336849

Bethesda saved DOOM from... doom
I hate blind love over Bethesda, but they get the job done. Bethesda actually saved that game and they did it with style. Even the Snapmap sometimes turns on my rusty level editing enthusiasm (like for .wad) back all over again. Who else would feed from some old gamey tags and feelings and renew that, but Bethesda? Whoever was the head behind publishing, he really knows what I would like to see and hear.

Its horror or what?
Doom 3 never really worked for me but it had its moments. Demons and hell aren't supposed to be scary on DOOM now, they're actually a bit cartoonish all again. Things still darky and creepy so weirdness sometimes finds its way up your head, but fun is just non-stop so it collides. Tension might be the word for Doom 3 instead and Pace might be for DOOM.

Let me make differences more clear;

Doom 3
DOOM 2016
I need ammo before doing that.
After that I won't have ammo.
God! The lights are off again...
I got a BFG I don't need no God.
Oh... so disgusting.
Wow, nice textures.
I need to go home.
I need to find a bar.
This sounds depressing. I wanna die.
I can't play while headbanging.

But, you're still going to hell.

Last thoughts
Exploration sucks on any difficulty. It happened with the old versions of Doom but not on Nightmare's due enemy respawn. You can wipe the entire map clean and keep looking for items with an entire empty level. You find some imps ocassionally, but there is absolutely no dynamism on exploration. The Lazarus Lab is actually the only level where exploration can be really cool, thanks to level hazards.

DoomGuy remains the fearless bad@ss ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ he used to be, Ask the Dragonborn about him. It was just the best FPS of 2016.

About Emoticons, backgrounds and cards.
09/30/17
Backgrounds could have been better. The black & white Baphomet is missing. At least there is the homage to the classic cover, DoomGuy and even Cyberdemon. Emoticons are related to UAC and Tanaka logos, also bright red runes of evil good only to call for satan when doing sarcastic comments. Cards set is entirely based on enemies and they're always fluctuating prices, they're usually middle. It isn't your best option for quick level ups if you want the truth.

Multiplayer?
It is pure frag madness, leaving abominations like CS:GO looking like nothing but horse sheat. Tons of exclusive MP big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ guns. You can play as demons and mount your own levels with SnapMap editor. It isn't so populated anymore, but still. And... You thought I forgot about you fake hackers? Never!

Instead of a soap there is a bottle cap there.

The first rule about the punch club is;
You only talk about the punch club retroism
The second rule about the punch club is;
You only talk about the punch club retroism
3rd Rule; If your body says ''stop'' or goes hungry, lays down, the day is over.
4th rule; Only two days to a fight.
5th rule; Thousands stats decays at a turn (even when you're actually working the stats)
6th rule; No clarification, no knowledge about right tech tree.
7th rule; Fights will go on as long as your stats decay says so.
8th rule; If this is your first time to get exploited by unscrupulous ''balance'' you have to fight on ''Suuuuper'' Easy.

You will stagger at some point. I think the devs do like that to extend game's life span. Its fun, its cool, but the lack of neutral scores does that. Send the complain to Valve.

Before review, tell me how the hell you make this game work?
This thing was a b*tch to make it running on a Joystick and NOBODY did anything to solve that problem. No quality control here? Not even the wizards from the modding community. Game isn't popular enough. Firstly, run GunMetal.exe on compatibility mode with XP and run as administrator. The "joystick problem" also has some workaround, go to options and If you're on a joystick and if you want to use your analog buttons, you Just hold the desired trigger by half (like a soft push) before the button assigment until the option detects it. You release the trigger slowly when ready. If holding by half doesn't work during the assigment, just press it down fully again, before prompting, and release it when ready and it might detect your analog trigger as a common button.

Now are you reviewing this thing man?
There is more Vortex for the old Snes in here than Metal Head for Genesis 32x...

Okay enough with this oldschool talk
The gameplay is original. I never saw a fast paced mechanic like that before, high on coffee. - Gun down couple of tanks *switch to a ship, go Dalton* - Back to Optimus Prime mode, protect the target, fly back again, switch again, land again... You save the world just to be locked on the asylum later.

Music is techno but not ravey or silly, it's fast paced like the game is. People complain that it is too hard, go play Super Mario Bros. Game will punish you. If you don't like to work under pressure you sissi better forget Gun Metal. Like when you go to some boot camp and quit coward because you can't concentrate with a maniac officer shouting at your ear. The challenge is awesome. Don't expect any real plot or oscar winning dialog.

This is just a game about some prototype Mecha everyday's work
  • Protect the convoy (only you against 459.002 enemies)
  • Protect the city (one small single mistake and you become a mass murderer)
  • Search and destroy (you can't hide from a hyper-tech Mecha equipped with a 1940's radar)
  • Provide backup (blue good, not blue just shoot)

Live A Live was an old Super Nintendo game, would never have been translated from Japanese without the fans. You could play with several different life stories each one with his own characters and story, with some relation or not between. This game reminds me about that somewhat, but the game is very original and much more mature. There is only 3 stories though, all with consistency. It did quite great for such an small game. I'm relieved that this simple, great idea still lives. The most absurd of it was the price I've paid, it was just too low for its content. A very creative piece of game, each chapter with its own soul. Be smart and think straight, go for your objective without thinking too much on it. The traps hidden on dialog can lead you astray, like in the real world. They made it simple, but VERY effective. And don't get fooled by the beautiful tunes, just like in the real world, consequences are coherent with your actions.

Some readers might be wondering why the more honest reviewers are comparing Machado's Arcade black magic, with some other unharmfull vicious things such as rock'n roll, dopes and censured Here to get it clear;

  1. It's naturally addictive
  2. It's blood boiling
  3. Leaves you wanting more after beating it. And more and more and more...
  4. It is better than censured a large amount of times

But you usually need to pay for some of those things... Calm down just joking. I have paid for games that weren't HALF this quality... and the guy gave me it for free. I can only say thankyou! The gameplay isn't a score kill like Ubermosh's but an time-attack survival. New biker themed music. New blasting pace. Fun. Simple and Brilliant.

A message for Trump and his followers paid-bots infestation (a.k.a. whiners)
You will be whining that this game has been RIGGED just for you to lose it, after certain humilliation you're 101% guarantee to experience. As you can see, we love this game the way it is. This game isn't for you, unless you leave all his cr@p behind.
