Overall a neat twist on the game that takes out many of the crutches you rely on in the base game. Want a spom? It's going to be difficult to acquire unfrozen water in enough quantities to keep it online, easier to use the new oxygen producing plants. Want power? Can't use coal or natural gas (unless you're lucky? I had access to neither), better use wood burners for a change. I enjoyed being forced out of my comfort zone and having to experiment with new approaches to do previously simple things like provide oxygen for atmo suits.

I do think the new critters need stronger synergies so that the player is less tempted to just hop to the next asteroid and grab something better. I never figured out sustainable flox farming, the bamooths don't seem to produce enough phosphorite for enough flox to run a large wood power system, the ethanol route also seemed like a situation where the juice isn't worth the squeeze. I think a few buffs would go a long way to make these options you'd strongly consider instead of the easier options from the base game + spaced out.

If you can get this game for <$5 imo it's a steal. It's basically a worker placement game where your pawns are different types of dice, and there's a surprising amount of depth in resource management, upgrading your dice (you can make the currently rolled face of a die worth its current value + 1, which makes it count as an additional pawn for the purpose of fulfilling a location's requirements), protecting your base, and carrying your best dice over from game to game. After a little bit the "others" start sending waves of enemies that will attack and you repel them with soldier dice or peasants that roll the combat face. My first play through was thoroughly enjoyable.

I'm not sure how much replay value there will be here, but at the sale price this is absolutely worth a shout, especially if you enjoy worker placement games.

Even after a year this game continues to get better. I hope they shift away from pegwin related games as the desync issues are really frustrating, but even with that I continue to have a blast and this has become my family's go to game for a family game sesh

Nothing like watching a triceratops plow through a phalanx of ratmen and their ranks quickly breaking and running to the hills while your javelin lizards rain hell on them. Wish there was more variety than the single campaign (you essentially just play a different starting position / race on the same map), but I've had a lot of fun going to war with the different races.
