Coming from the perspective of mainstream RPG's, it has a lot of similarities. The world doesn't feel massive, but in exploration, every encounter feels super meaningful. Combat is intricate and often requires a lot of strategy. Overall, well worth the price.

Fun and unique RPG that doesn't take itself seriously.

The main reason I wouldn't rate it higher is the boss fight mechanics being frustrating 90% of the time (each has a unique non-intuitive mechanic and it felt super sloppy) and the story/exploration got a little boring as the game progressed.

Overall, still a fun game and worth picking up

Super entertaining game, although the last ~10% sucks. Just like in the original Subnautica, the survival, exploration and craft appeal of the game sticks with you as you go throughout the story, until all of the sudden, it disappears. The writing of the ending is fine and seeing it unfold through the cinematic type stuff is okay. It's just the in-game requirements to get the story completed which feel underwhelming and tedious. Up until the latter part of the game, there's always new exploration, enhancements, items, etc. to keep you hooked, all while the main story progresses. This is what keeps the game compelling. Toward the end, that excitement was gone and I only kept with it to see how the story would end. Like finishing up a delicious meal with a bland dessert, the ending somewhat spoils what would be an otherwise perfect game.

What I liked about this game: Rocks, stones, Karl, etc.

Incredibly well polished for a mod.

Thoroughly enjoyed my time spent exploring the world of Subnautica, descending deeper and deeper into the planet and following along with the story. My only criticism is that the pacing/knowing what I should be doing was sometimes difficult and the gameplay started feeling tedious and less rewarding during my last stretch of hours. 9.5/10 would recommend!

A great adventure... definitely worth playing with buds. Resource gathering and fighting all becomes much easier when you're not alone.
