Great campaign, even greater multiplayer. Better than the original in every single way possible. No other game has this balance of skill ceiling and accessibility. Even when you're losing, it's still fun as hell to run around the map at mach 2 dunking on the AI grunts. No other game is so consistently fun, too. There's so many ways to contribute in a match that you never feel like you're doing badly. Hell, half the time I don't even realize what the score is until we win or lose. There's a lot of variety in the gameplay since the game lets you get better. You don't have to stand still to shoot, you don't have to memorize recoil patterns, you just have to learn how to MOVE. There's a really high skill ceiling in that, but learning it is actually fun, unlike memorizing minute details about a specific gun. You won't know how to slide hop at first, or how to chain movement together, but running around is so fast and fluid that you won't even realize that you're doing it wrong. It doesn't even matter, the game is just always fun.

It's a collection of all the halo games on PC. At this time, only Reach is out, and it's been absolutely amazing to relive it in 1440p and 60FPS. Halo with a mouse feels so much better, I'm really surprised it took Microsoft this long to bring it to PC.

343 is bringing out the games bit by bit on PC, in order. Next up is CE, so we'll see how that port goes. The Reach port is pretty good, with only a few issues with sound and input lag. Capping your framerate at 60 fixes the lag for now, and hopefully they'll fix the uncapped framerate soon.

The actual gameplay is literally just halo. They're the original games, zero changes. This introduces some problems in multiplayer, because Reach only has DMR as the starting weapon, which gives everyone the ability to shoot you from across the map. It was obviously balanced for console, since you wouldn't get aim assist at those distances -- but now that doesn't matter. It can be frustrating to get plinked constantly by DMR fire on the larger maps, and I really hope they rectify this by either changing the weapon itself or removing it as a starter gun. Other than that, the multiplayer is the same as the original -- fun and engaging with Halo's signature vehicles and craziness. It runs very well and I've not had any issues with it.

They brought over the entire progression system from the console, and made it into a kind of battle pass. It's all free, you just unlock one tier at a time. It's sorta slow, but it's a million times faster than it was on console. You can unlock the entire reach armory in under 100 hours now, down from literally close to 1000 on the xbox 360. The only gripe I have is you can't see each other's armors in the lobby, which you could do on the 360.

They haven't brought out forge yet, but I expect some amazing custom maps when they do. All previous maps from the console version are compatible, so if you had custom games saved from the console MCC, you'll have them on PC. They have plans to add in a browser for custom files, which will be really nice. Reach absolutely had the best customs. I hope they add in workshop as the browser as well.

It's halo on PC. Just buy it already.

TL;DR: Old-school style shooter with a decent story, good graphics and solid gunplay. Perfect for people who enjoy shooting ♥♥♥♥ in the face.

Gameplay
The gameplay follows an older style, with ADS not being much more accurate than hip-fire. The game is run and gun at its core, and to some extent punishes you for staying in one place for too long. Cover is destructible in this game, and enemies will take advantage of that. The AI in this game is pretty good, executing flanks, repositioning, and throwing nades to flush you out of cover. This isn't something like old-school DOOM, you're not that fast. But, you do have unlimited sprint and a nice little slide move to get you from cover to cover without taking much damage.

This game has an old-school health system as well. Health only regenerates to the nearest multiple of 10, leaving you to find medkits within the level. Armor helps mitigate damage, and is usually scattered around near medkits. You can sometimes pick up armor from dead enemies. If you shoot someone in the head, his helmet pops off for you to take. You can even overcharge your health beyond its limit, and it will slowly tick down over time.

The guns seem fairly standard at first, and it's not until about halfway through the game that you get access to interesting weapons. At first, it's a 3-round burst pistol that can be converted to a silenced handgun. Then, it's a lazer gun that can alternate between cutting holes in the wall and cutting enemies in half. Finally, you get access to the fun stuff: lazer rifles, shotguns with shells that bounce off everything, rocket launchers, and EMP grenades. The lazer gun/cutter you have can be upgraded over the course of the game, giving it functions like reflectable shots, teslas for taking out robots, and a targeting scope that lets it hit multiple enemies at once. It's a shame the lazer gun runs out of ammo so quickly. You'll run out of ammo frequently on higher difficulties, forcing you to take the enemy's ammo and scavenge it from around the level. Any lazer guns run on a battery that needs to be recharged, which you can do at yellow stations scattered around.

You've also got a stealth componnent: you can put a silencer on the pistol, perform silent takedowns, and throw 1-shot knives. The stealth in general is pretty fun, and is usually the better option in terms of difficulty. If enemies detect you, they'll call in backup, which can range from more grunts to heavy armored dudes with rocket launchers and even giant robots. The variety of enemies in this game is great, and you learn throughout it how to tackle each new foe. Each has specific patterns and weak points to exploit.

Story
Nazis won the war, and they have futuristic ♥♥♥♥. So naturally, you're here to ♥♥♥♥ them up.

The story is actually pretty good, and does a decent job of making you care about the characters. Nothing particularly new, it's been done before, and some of the "twists" are pretty obvious, but it's more than you usually get with this type of a game.

Graphicals
Pretty good. The overall lighting/animation is great, and the reflections and bullet effects are very nice. As I said, most cover is destructible. It's very satisfying to see half of a room destroyed. The textures leave a bit to be desired, especially since the game is 40GB in size.

Sound
The voice acting is good for most characters, and the accents aren't over the top. Each character sounds different. As for the game sound, well... it's guns. Just as good as any other shooter, really. The music is nice though.

Overall, would recommend to anyone looking for a solid, engaging singleplayer shooter.

Quack quack quack quack quack, quack quack. quack quack quack quack? quack. quackquackquackquackquackquack; quack quack quack. QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK.

QUACK/10 - quackGN

Seriously though, this game is the most fun I've had in a while. If you have a couple of friends, or like Smash Bros at all, get this game immidiately. The whole premise is ducks shooting each other on a 2D stage. There's tons of weapons and levels to fight on as well. It's great multiplayer fun, you can make your own stages and mod the game, and there's a button dedicated to quacking. If that doesn't sound good to you... well, you're a quack.
