Source Filmmaker has its problems. It's buggy. It's unintuitive. It's running on a severely limited, geriatric game engine. It isn't being updated anymore. It cannot in any way compete with professional animation software.

But, if you can look beyond all that, what you'll find is the easiest to use program of its ilk by a country mile. It still isn't for the faint of heart, but if you stick with it, it can work wonders. It allowed me to make the action movies I always dreamed of making, and that, without any prior animation knowledge. and it's free. Plus, the Source community being as large as it is, assets for it are plentiful.

Source Filmmaker is its own (beautiful (if a bit misshapen)) beast. It's not for everyone, but for people like me, it's the ideal catalyst for creativity juice flow.
