This game is fantastic, and it's rare for a game to pull me in like this has. Easily my most played and favorite VR game so far.
Beat saber is a VR game where you hit notes in the right color and direction to the beat of a song. Very simple concept, and there is no mastering this game.
The first songs you start off with are pretty good, and you could honestly play them for many hours before getting bored, by upping the difficulty and trying to get a better score. Though, as everyone else has said, the modding community is where it's at. Most any song you can think of at least has a chart (chart is the name for a song level map thing you play through), if not one with multiple different difficulties and reviews so you know what you're getting into.
There are rating systems, with thumbs ups and thumbs downs just in the game's song downloading mod itself, and if you want more specificity, you can go somewhere like beatsaver.com.
There are mods for everything from changing the lighting to rainbow colors instead of red and blue, to mods where you can change what your sabers, avatar, and platform looks like.
I would say I'm biased because of how much I play this game, but it's very rare for me to play a game consistently and keep coming back to it like I have with this.
Other things you probably would like to know.
Graphics are simple but in the best way, and you can pretty much change whatever "graphics" the game has by changing your sabers and the platform you're in.
Really haven't found any bugs or performance issues, except from the occasional jitter (usually because of the amount of notes and such on the screen depending on the chart).
Game sessions can range from person to person, but I average maybe 30 minutes with a few sessions per day. I really do push myself though, and most people can get session of an hour to even 3 hours depending on who they are.
This really is a stamina based rythm game, and one I can't seem to stop coming back to to do something better, or try new sabers or a mod, or get a better high score.
Highly recommend, definitely worth $20. If you're getting into VR or want to let your friends/family play with yours, this is the game to introduce yourself/them to.

I've played this game for around 50 hours, and overall, I'd recommend it.I have to especially mention, do NOT EVER go to the wiki if you want to have the full experience. I ruined my experience and looked up a bunch of things, and I got through stuff really quickly and by now I'm already sort of tired of the game. I haven't even completed it yet, but I know exactly how it ends, where to get stuff, etc. I never even really looked through more scarier areas because I knew exactly what I'd find there.

Graphics: Overall, good. The graphics alone are pretty great, they nailed the water from above and below. I'm giving this just a good because of all the bugs... No one mentions much, though when you play it you will see the horrid render distance, things just popping into existence right next to you. It's not the biggest deal, and it's definitely still playable.

Movement: Underwater, amazing in all the vehicles and just swimming around, but (sort of spoilers) on land/in your base it's mediocre. It works, but it's a little odd feeling, you can definitely tell they spent more time on underwater movement. Overall, feels pretty great.

Story: Great, though as I said, I spoiled it for myself and never got to adventure into the unknown like many others have, because I knew what I needed and what I was going to find. Again, please do not spoil the story or really anything about this game for yourself, you'll regret it. The story lasts fairly long, and to progress you need certain things and you need to go certain places, but it's a lot more fun when you don't know what those things or places are.

Crafting and Base Building: Crafting feels good, and certain items feel like puzzles, and you have to explore to find the pieces. Underwater bases are pretty nice, there's a good amount of content so you have many different options on how you want to make your base.

Overall, I'd HIGHLY recommend this game, and for a third time lol, dont spoil it for yourself.
