Along with the obvious things others have listed in other reviews, the PvE component is not only at minimum barebones, but also subject to the same heavy handed "balancing" and nerfs to rewards like every other mode.

Air Assault has the same bugs it has had for over 5 years now, now with even less tickets and leeway to actually make a mistake when the game throws two or three waves of bombers at the same time when it should only ever be one; bonus if this happens with a artillery wave. Depending on the map, this actually cannot be played around since most of your teammates are useless in premiums (remember, Gaijin doesn't want farming vehicles supposedly). The nerf to battle activity means you gain about 10k SL / 1.5k RP less, and even if it has been acknowledged, nothing has even been done to remedy this.

Helicopter PvE is also, according to Gaijin, balanced perfectly for all helicopters. Meanwhile, actually playing the mode is hellish if you're not in a Ka-50 or Apache, since you'll constantly have your targets destroyed from under you as you try to manually guide in your AGMs. If you don't have any participation, you don't get any SL and RP. And if even if you manage to not have any competition, the aimbot SPAA and SAMs make sure that if you don't have anything that can hover from out of range, you have little chance to survive an attack run. Working as intended, according to Gaijin.

A majority of these nerfs were performed silently, no mention in any patch notes or out of touch blog post. Gaijin likes to pretend that they're so transparent with these changes with their "It's Fixed!" posts, when in reality they only exist to fool and gaslight their playerbase. Since they intend for you not to be able to play top tier and just go EVEN in SL with a premium vehicle (that costs anywhere from 50 to 70 USD), this alone should tell you about their philosophy. And god forbid you find a way to alleviate the grind even slightly, Gaijin will come and roundhouse kick it into the dirt so you are tempted to pay up.

If you haven't ever tried WT before, good, avoid it like the plague.
