Tom is a pet cat. He's supposed to be in that in house, and he's supposed to chase mice. Someone pays for his cat food, cat toys, vet visits, etc. Someone loves him, and wants him to be there. Jerry, on the other hand is an invasive pest. He is an intruder in that house, and does nothing but chew holes in the walls, steal food, crap everywhere, and try to murder the homeowners pet. The homeowners want him gone, so Tom chasing him is a good thing.

Tell me, if Tom was your beloved pet kitty, would you be cheering for the wild (probably diseased) mouse that is destroying your home and torturing and trying to kill your pet?

And to save you the inevitable comments, yes Im already aware I care way too much about this.

Assuming 2kg chicken, E\_K = .5\*2\*16652 = 2,772,225 J = 2.8 MJ

Specific heat of a chicken = C = 3.68 kJ/(kg C)

2,772,225 J / 3.68 kJ/(kg C) = 753.3 degrees C increase in temp

Assuming dQ/dt = hA(T(0) - T(t\_f)), h = 25 W/(m2 K) , T(t\_f) = 400 C, T(0) = 26.85 + 753.3 C, and A = 0.25 m2 we get the differential equation

\-mC(dT/dt) = hA(T(0) - T(t\_f)) which when solved gives us

\-(hA/mC)t = ln((T(t\_f) - 300)/(T(0) - 300))

Rearranging for t,

t = -(mC/hA)ln((T(t\_f) - 300)/(T(0) - 300)) = 786.6623 seconds = 13.111 minutes
