Having read through quite a few positive reviews of this game, I'm almost left wondering whether these people played the same game that I did. I found the voice acting atrocious most of the time and mediocre at best. The story, while initially interesting is constantly being side-tracked by meaningless and boring fetch-me-this-so-I'll-help-you quests. In my opinion, this distracts too much from the detective crime-solving aspect of the game. The game is also extremely linear and often has you needing to do one exact thing, or find one clue that you overlooked without giving you any clue as to what needs to be done. I had a tough time getting through this title and almost gave up out of sheer boredom.

There are a few things that I really did like about this game though. I loved the timeline feature and the fact that you could choose between first person and third person perspective. But these features were not enough to save the game for me.

Early Access Review
This is a lot of fun with friends. Just make sure you use the in-game voice chat!

This game has a lot of things going for it, sadly everything becomes a bit of a grind very fast. The drive to unlock more things is there, but the payoff is disappointing vs the amount of effort put in. Before long, you've learned your lesson and stop going for it. At least, this is how it went for me.
After playing 4 hours, I stopped playing because after every unlock, the grind starts all over again. I started the game up a few times after that, but it took me about 20 mins of getting bored of the grind again.

I know a lot of people are giving this a thumbs up, but I honestly don't understand how grinding in games has become fun all of a sudden.

Elite Dangerous recaptures the athmosphere of the original 80's Elite game and adds a whole truckload of extras on top. This has stopped being a game, it's a simulation of how life would be if we could all get our own personal spaceship and fly out into the galaxy.

On top of a great game, it supports VR head-look (which takes the experience to a whole other level!) and one of the best player communities I've ever seen.

Couldn't recommend this more!

Update: Frontier keeps delivering. Every update improves this game into so much more than the original. This isn't a game anymore, it's my second life.

This is a mediocre adventure game, with uninteresting characters and an uncompelling plot. The only thing it has going for it is that it has an Agatha Christie athmosphere, though the similarities are a tad over the top.

I found the characters to be bland and uninteresting most of the time, with slow and tedious dialogue... I constantly found myself thinking "Get to the bloody point" while going through the dialogue options. The plot was rather predictable and very cliché. The final plot twist was over the top and felt "forced". What I DID like about the story is that each chapter shows parts of the same story from different points of view... that was pretty well done.

The game mechanic of having to "look" at an object once, twice or more times before being able to use it, or exhaust all investigative options was not very intuitive. With this game, they tried to do it differently I guess, but adventure games have worked the same way for a long time and with good reason. What they intended to be innovative turned out to be counter intuitive and frankly not fun to play. The fact that some of the steam achievements are linked to clicking on everything until you've exhausted all possible clickable hotspots, is quite ridiculous.

It's not a polished title either. On three occasions I had to restart the game and replay part of the story because my character had gotten stuck in an animation loop. Luckily I picked this game up at a considerable discount, so I wasn't that upset with it.

I would not recommend this game to anyone.
