Most negative reviews complain about a lack of offline mode, which is perfectly valid.
BUT I do not believe it was necessary for the game to be "mostly negative" day one because of it.

Game is phenomenal and I'm having a ton of fun with it. Definitely should pick it up if you have some friends online! Or even do it if you don't! The matchmaking isn't that bad!

Very fun empire building game. The historical aspects are great, and the modding community adds more to the already near infinite amount of replayability.
