My last review was very negative based on a recent patch, this is updated version:

Devs are amazing. They listened to the community, worked their magic and put out a patch that completely changed the game. Feels good to die now. They clearly care, and are doing their best.

Read the reviews and thought I'd try the game, figuring people are overplaying how good it is. I've never played this type of game because it doesn't sound interesting or good. Well, 10 hours in and I am hooked. Haven't even gotten off the "tutorial" island. Buy it and try it, you won't be disappointed.

While this game is a lot of fun and very interesting to play, even on Easy it can be absurdly difficult if the RNG hits you just right. On any of the more difficult settings, it is stupid. Unless you're willing to devote actual brain power and play this game like its your math homework, it isn't any fun

This is a horrible game and here is why, without writing out 10 paragraphs.

It isn't well designed. If you had a reliable way to evade damage that'd be great. But you don't. To compensate for that damage, a way to heal, but you don't. The leveling system is absolute bollocks, and give you no real advantage. Spending 10 points in it offers no noticeable gameplay change. Gee, that extra 5 health sure saved me. Overall it could've been a great game, but a few very important mechanics are missing. It isn't well thought out and leaves you with a dumb playstyle that doesn't flow.

$60 to change my weapon, approach a bonfire, and crash my game. Best ever. 8/8

Got the game on sale, figured I'd just return it if it didn't work as most of the reviews say. 4 hours in and I've had absolutely no problems. All the settings are either on normal or high (only 3 settings: toaster, normal, high). Im running i7-4770k and gtx780 with 16 gigs ram.

As for the game itself, fun to play, would recommend if you liked the other games.
