Early Access Review
It has the potential to be a great game, if you want to play one of the builds that GGG wants you to play, otherwise you are going to have a bad time. Wait for this to go F2P before jumping in.

Nexon and First Descendant are an absolute disaster. Account issues, crashes, shaders constantly loading and freezing the game, and to top it all if, they learned nothing from the Beta. They've ignored all of the feedback they were given and are continuing to ignore these massive bugs and issues with they account systems. Stay far away.

Fishing, inventory management, gear upgrading, exploration, collect-a-thon, and then cthulhu shows up. Great chill game to play with a fun void hiding beneath.

I am blown away by how good this game is. Given the number of reviews I was expecting a much more average experience but this is seriously the best co-op game I've played in a long time. I put this head and shoulders above games like We Were Here (and I love those games). The puzzles are hard, but never once felt unsolvable. There a even a few that were foreshadowed in really ingenious ways! I am floored at how well some of this game was designed.

My only real complaints revolve around the Stinger/mines and a few of the checkpoints. The range on the Stinger is WAY too short and the range on mines is quite finicky. It definitely got frustrating dying over and over because of these. And, while most of the checkpoints seemed perfectly placed, there were a few that were just before some kind of grind work that had to be repeated too many times. Even if the checkpoints don't move, I'd like to see things like database entries carry-over through checkpoints so you don't have to redo meaningless hacking/scanning so often. But, given the entire experience, these feel like a minor gripes now.

I cannot wait to see what's next from these devs and just hope it's another co-op puzzler.

An absolutely amazing souls-like experience that perfectly weaves a third person shooter into unique and beautiful boss fights. There are problems and bugs, but even if they never get fixed, this is a strong recommend and worth every penny.

It might be described as "souls-lite" instead, similar to "rogue-like" vs. "rogue-lite". The combat is still satisfyingly difficult, but death is not as punishing as From Soft games and there are no "troll holes."

The story/lore is wonderfully interesting and the worlds each feel unique and fleshed out.

The biggest selling point, however, is the sheer amount of content. The level generation is amazingly done and the worlds always feel fresh. There are so many secrets and little bits of content strewn throughout so even if 90% of the world you're running through now is the same, there new ways to handle, deal with, and interact with most of the encounters you come across each time.

I generally try not to recommend games too strongly because opinions and subjective takes are tricky, but if you're looking at this page and wondering if you should check it out, then the answer is almost certainly "Yes!"

Stray is a great example of "more than the sum of its parts." Taken separately it isn't spectacular at anything. A decent exploration game, some simple puzzles, a little action platforming and even "combat." But when you put that together with a candidly told, heartfelt story; an interesting, exotic universe; and satisfyingly tight controls, it really adds up to a fantastic experience that just about anyone could love.

Sure, the game today isn't the game that launched, but to this day the devs has still not owned up to their lies. The game today is also still not the game the devs lied that they were releasing. Features they said were already implemented pre-released are still no where to be found. Sure, they added in some features we never asked for, but where are the ones I paid for? Liars, scammers, and thieves can atone for their past transgressions, but it starts with owning up to them. Don't be OK with giving your money to these people.

The sheer charm and wit of It Takes Two might be enough to make it a great game, but it doesn't stop there. The gameplay, though simple, is constantly changing and evolving to the environments and story around it. The characters are well written and while some may seem a bit 2-dimensional at first, they each come into their own as the game progresses. The voice acting is top notch across the board and the overall polish in this game shows. A lot of care and love went into It Takes Two and, just like a marriage, that's the only way to make a game with this much heart work.

Never has a game made the leap from 2d to 3d so incredibly well. Not only did it live up to the expectations of the phenomenal first game, but it exceeded them and has raised the already astronomically high bar even higher.

This game cannot be judged by the first, fifth, or maybe even hundredth run. It is more than the sum of all of its parts: Unlocking extremely varied characters, items, and levels; uncovering lore and secrets; and mastering the intricacies of enemies, elites, and bosses.

This is a game for those that want to explore, adventure, learn and master multiple aspects of a rogue-lite. It is, to that end, the best rogue-lite I've ever played and even now, I'm looking forward to my next run!
