last year, during the summer update, i introduced a bunch of close friends who had next to no recent familiarity with TF2 to the game, and it was some of the most fun we had that summer.
this summer, just one year later, the bots that were already a problem, and have been for years, are reaching a point where this is basically no longer feasible.
i want to enjoy this game. there's still a shell i care about in there, no other game is anything like it. surely there's something that can be done here? how am i supposed to trust in trying CS2, or even trying out deadlock, whenever that happens, knowing full well that if it's overtaken by bad actors, nothing will be done to remedy the situation?

Everything a Sonic fan could feasibly want, handed nicely to us on a silver platter. I'm honestly taken aback by what a breath of fresh air and genuine step up this game is. The characters finally act like characters after years of just being gag fodder, moving through the world is satisfying, they even offer alternative methods to obtaining collectibles if you decide you don't want to do cyber space levels or don't want to scour through the open world.
Not to say it's perfect; you'll feel the jank, as there always is, and especially towards the end you can tell they hit the time and budget crunch, but there's just so much to love here that I have no choice but to recommend it to basically anyone who's interested or invested in Sonic, and possibly even people who aren't.

The original Glitchhikers kind of showed up in my life out of the blue at a very formative time, and I found myself deeply wishing I could experience more of it. From that perspective, it could be argued I'm a little biased, but even so, it's the kind of experience I'm glad is out there getting made.
Even without the conversations and the thoughts and feelings they're made to pull out, I would still deeply enjoy this game on some level; rarely do we ever get to play anything based on the sorts of "passive" experiences we have in life, things that just kind of waste time, but in ways that make you feel a little more whole for having done so. Spaces like the long drive in nearly empty roads where the soft hum of the engine lulls your mind into deep thought, or the airport terminal that you never *want* to be stuck in, but always seems like it has just a little bit more for you to explore than you have time to really explore. Games have the capacity to take feelings like those and explore them fully, and The Spaces Between is a fantastic example of that.
It's probably not everyone's kind of "walking sim," but the kind of people who do take solace in the kinds of moments of reality that this game tries to recreate are absolutely going to find a welcoming experience that wants to help them get comfortable and find themselves on the road, while also offering numerous resources for if the thoughts that get provoked are too intense to reasonably handle.
I'm so thankful one of my favorite weird little experimental titles from who-knows-how-long-ago got the chance to blossom. If the idea of it interests you, it's worth checking out.

Omori is a game about being afraid to leave things behind, and having to confront the reality that sometimes, things are different forever. It's a game that can make you feel happy, excited, and eager to see where its fantastic world will take you next, and it's a game with a fairly unique, oftentimes gorgeous art direction that just oozes emotion constantly, especially in the feelings you can read in the hand-drawn art. In a lot of ways, it's a fairly basic turn-based RPG, so it likely won't win you over if you didn't already like them, and sometimes it feels like it tries a little too hard to be a "creepy spooky evil RPG." But it also has a lot of heart, and a cast of characters that it's hard not to care about.
Omori is also a game that will find a way to dig at your own wounds, if you have them.

In 2012, when I was 16, I moved away from my friends, left behind an area I had gotten familiar with, and moved somewhere completely alien to me, with no say in the matter, as my dad just felt like it.
In late 2014, right after my first semester in college, my best friend in the world at the time passed away. Her cancer had been worsening consistently over the last year or two, and all things considered, I got to spend a lot more time with her than I was originally expected to.
In 2018, I moved away from everything I had become familiar with again, this time crossing the entire country, and doing so by myself, with no lifeline but my roommate and whoever I could call on my phone.

Omori is a game that's made me think about these moments in life, and a lot of others. The conversations that I had, having no way of knowing that when they ended, I was saying a final goodbye. The people I've hurt so badly that even if I wanted to apologize, I'm better off letting them forget I existed. The memories I've made that can never truly be replicated.
You might not be as able to deeply resonate with the themes of this game the way I have, both because of my own weird past, as well as how easily I emphasize with fictional characters. Not everyone will be this moved by it. But if this game can properly get its hooks into you, there is no other feeling like the feeling it will give you.

A game so incredible I felt the need to buy it a second time on my PC.
I'll admit that I have a bit of a soft spot for roguelites, so my thoughts are biased, but at the same time, they rarely hook me as hard as Hades has, and it's entirely because of its story. The fact that runs don't always need to win to move the narrative makes losing never feel frustrating, and the game feels balanced pretty much all the way through. Alongside the time I've put in on Steam, I originally started playing on the Switch, and put in over a hundred hours on the game there, and I'm not even tired yet. This is the kind of game I'll keep at for ages in different little ways, and I couldn't recommend it enough to everyone. There's a fishing minigame, AND a dog to pet!!

Ever since I got a headset, I've been craving a straight-up hack and slash, but kinda assumed it was out of the reach of current VR development. I've never been happier to be wrong. Puzzle-combat is a fun niche to fill, for sure, and this game does an incredible job of making you feel extremely cool while doing it. While it can sometimes feel inappropriately overwhelming, most situations can be taken control of if you collect yourself well enough. It surprises me this game has been in EA so long and yet I've heard so little mention of it. Definitely not a game to be slept on. Possibly a real genuine hit, with this level of polish.

It's honestly all I could've ever wanted from Monster Hunter on the PC. There's a few growing pains from the team moving to an unfamiliar platform but otherwise this is exactly what you could've hoped for. If you've played World on other platforms, this is it but better. If you've played Monster Hunter before, this is it but more refined, though you might find the monster pool a little small. If you've never played Monster Hunter at all... It's kind of unforgiving but this is probably the most ideal starting point.
This is exactly what I wanted and it's an asbolute delight to play, and the patches coming in, while slower than the average Western PC game developer, are a clear sign that Capcom actually is trying to make this game better. PC got Deviljho eons faster than PS4 did, and others are likely to follow, so I'm very much willing to say we'll likely be at parity with console really quickly, and at that point, considering that the server issues are now nonexistent, it'll just be the best way to play Monster Hunter right now.

First Assault Online very clearly wants to be a fast paced, well flowing FPS game good enough to compete with the big leagues. It's certainly a fast paced FPS, but in its current state it lacks a lot. I would go easy on this game, it being in early access and all, but this review is going to be labelled as an early access one and probably dated, so I don't mind digging in.
Firstly, the game conveys very little of the battle action to you. It's hard to actually tell if you're getting shot sometimes, particularly because of the varied damage guns can do meaning that occasionally a gun will just one shot you, and sometimes it won't. So it's hard to tell when you're taking damage, be it from bullets, seeker drones that you might not have noticed being as close as they are, anything. This can be fixed, and it'd be nice if it was.
Secondly, there's the health issue. FAO has no regenerating health, which is nice! In theory this could be a nice mixup on the formula, but there are absolutely no ways to recharge your health after damage is taken as far as I can tell. This means that every point of damage you take permanently follows around with you, and that if you come out of a confrontation with low health you might as well be dead anyway. A large amount of times I've managed to get the drop on someone and kill them, only to find my health was so low that I didn't have the capacity to do anything afterward, because I couldn't survive a single bullet afterward.
Thirdly, there's the ranking. FAO does that thing that games with ranking systems shouldn't do, where players with higher rank, or maybe money, because I never looked at the store, can outright get more powerful things. Which is annoying. By default, pretty much every gun in the game has so much recoil that aiming down the sights is pointless, but you can get grips. This is an outright upgrade, and solely given based on rank. Rank rewards should be sidegrades, not outright upgrades! That creates a rift and makes it harder for newer players to experience the game and enjoy it, because they'll just be getting killed by someone who already has all the good stuff, or bought it.

All in all, for cheap, maybe this game will be fun for you. I enjoyed it a little bit. Just not enough, and I saw too many flaws. It did help me burn a little while, but it wasn't very enjoyable.
