This is a very strained recommend. The combat is tight and feels good, the roster has good voice acting and interactions, and all the character power systems--including weapon customization and triple attacks--feel good to use.

So why is this recommendation strained? One simple reason. The game will simply decide it's time for you to lose with no real player agency over it. Most battles have more than one commander and vets will recognize that any of the commanders dying means game over. In many battles you have a reasonable amount of agency over keeping them alive. In some battles, commanders will melt. With no warning. I'm not exaggerating either, I've done several battles where the commander died so quickly the game didn't have time to display "Commander is in trouble, assist at once!" message. Sometimes it's my fault for not recognizing they were in a dangerous area. But when the entire army advances into the enemy main camp and I'm fighting 8 officers at the same time just trying to stay alive, I think it's very unreasonable that one of my commanders did not advance with the rest of us and died within 15 seconds of the assist message to regular troops. This isn't even a one time occurrence. I tried Battle of Yan Province 5 times before skipping it and coming back overpowered to obliterate it.

Anyway, this game is definitely fun. But it will try to piss you off at times. If you're aware of that and can accept it, this is a good purchase.
