Honest review of "b", Introduction;
"b" is u&i's latest Fantasy FPS RPG With large focus on immersion and story. I don't know where to get started on this absolute masterpiece of a game. Don't be fooled by how this game looks on the outside, trust me. Install this game and you are in for the ride of your life. This is an honest review on the game "b", where I will do my best to explain to you why you should give this game a chance without spoiling too much of the story.

After launching the game, you'll see a bunch of settings that you are prompted to do... Pretty much whatever you want with! But be careful, what you do here will impact the gameplay a lot. If you spend time with the settings, you can tailor an amazing gaming experience that feels perfect for just you. With the recently added VR option you can get immersed even more.

The Story/Plot
Alright, enough about that, the story; You play as "b" a bee who is lost, he cannot find his way back to his hive, as players we are instantly hit with the philosophical qualities of this game, is b lost, or is he free? b has been absent from his hivemind and now has achieved what no bee has ever achieved before; Sapience. "b" tells us an amazing story of how nothing can be gained without sacrifice, when you play this game you truly feel free, you really do. But you are also alone, this game has multiple endings and your choices can alter the storyline completely but I can tell you already, if you are looking for more bees, this is the wrong game. This game is not for weak minded people.

As I said, the main protagonist "b" is the only bee in this game, at least for all that I know. At the time of writing this review I have played the game through 31 times, but so far I have not been able to get an ending with bees no matter what I have tried, I have unlocked all secrets, unlockables and vanity items but... no bees. However there are many ladybugs that you meet on your journey, my favorite character by far is "Bob" who is a ladybug from the "West-oak field", one of the first fields you ever find in the game, Bob showed up early and instantly captured my heart. I bonded with him and so did b, it doesn't take long until you (player or b, whatever, the immersion is out of this world) realize that Bob is someone you can trust. Bob helpts you a lot through the early game and... Without spoiling what happens later, I advice you to keep him in your party for the rest of the game. He is very helpful.

Graphics, gameplay and Engine Stability

The graphics of "b" are out of this world, but it is still amazingly optimized to work on any machine. (I have played "b" on 4 different PCs so far, 2 of which were bad laptops, it runs very smooth), the graphics are a beautiful mix of fantasy and realism, the beauty of the game is straight out breathtaking, but the developers weren't afraid to make it dark when necessary. The game seems stable and you fall under the impression that the game will never lag or crash on you... Until it does.
In the middle of the bliss the game just crashes on you, this might be because of poor optimizing in the Unity engine, or can it be something more? The game just shuts down and the player is left gaping in surprise, staring at their nekopara vol. 9 wallpaper as they wonder what just happened. The game teaches us that all good things must come to an end, sometimes earlier than we would want. This brings us, to our last point. The philosophy and depth of this amazing masterpiece.

The MAIN attraction of this game, the depth; b answers many questions, but raises far more. The first thing you will notice as you start the game is that no matter what you did to the settings, the world will always just be a flat square that you are forced to spend the rest of your existence in, as mentioned earlier, you have a hard time undearstanding if you are trapped or if you are free, you want to know what would happen if you were to... Press against the edge? Would you fall? Would you get somewhere else? A part of you wants to leave the fields but no, you won't bring yourself to do it. If you by chance managed to leave the fields, you know you would miss it. This is up for interpretation but I believe this is b trying to teach us a valuable life lesson, "You never know what you have before you lose it" and that's what I love the most about this game. How much it makes me think, another good example is the name of the main protagonist, "b", lower case b mind you. In every context his name is used, it is always in lower case no matter what, this makes us wonder if it is becuase b was lesser or lower than the other bees. Maybe he never flied away and got lost, maybe he was banished? It is later impled from b's rebel nature that he might have rebeled against the Matriarchy in the hive, it is posible he tried to rise against the queen but failed and now has to live in solitude forever.

Conclusion; This is a game that is well worth your time and the fact that this game is free is almost a crime. I hope I did a good job at expressing myself and I hope I got you interested enough to give this masterpiece a try. If you end up liking this game (I am certain you will) please consider donating to u&i so that they can continue developing masterpieces like this in the future, they have already shown us a preview of "c" and it looks breathtaking. That was all, god bless you all.
