This game is not DOOM 2016. However it is quite something else.

Where DOOM 2016 got it's love by being high paced, and "out of the way", You with shotgun, Mars with things to use with shogun.

This is not what DOOM Eternal is. it's quite a step up in complexity. The game is also now a platformer and for some reason has a "home base". The HQ type thing feels somewhat like a half baked idea that got put into production close to the end "as it is". Platforming is often clunky, and the addition of purple goo that slows you down is a total misfire on the game brand.

However, It's still a fun game. It's much harder than DOOM 2016, and on the lowest difficulty setting I was still getting destroyed.

Design flaws IMO:

- Marauder is actually just too hard. Made me quit playing in several segments, There is a use for hard enemies, but not un-amusing impossible ones.
- BFG9000 is now on the primary weapon wheel, This allows you to auto-switch to it while killing an imp.
- Purple goo, not helpful or fun, just felt like time padding
- Design bloat? There are a lot of weapons, and a lot of everything now?
- It feels like the game almost had in-app purchases but was removed at the last moment, since there is basically no other reason for many of the HQ bits to exist otherwise

Overall, fun game. but the above issues do hamper enjoyment a fair bit. Still a worthy 1up to DOOM 2016
