If you right click Fallout and go to properties, go to browse files and click on READ ME. It will teach you all of the mechanics of the game if you don't like learning as you go.

Is this a good game? Yes. Does it have good gameplay? ♥♥♥♥ no.

Cons:
-Combat is a bit slow.
-Travelling is tedious because of the stupid random encounter system. It's hard to walk 2 feet without having some stupid ♥♥♥♥ that usually results in you running away because you're too weak to deal with it or at the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ times it's just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ instadeath.
-Dialogue can be a bit messy at times. Even if someone hasn't asked you to do something but you do it anyway, somehow you automatically know them.
-There's no level based gameplay so things that happen at high levels are the same at low levels which can make combat difficult at first.
-The beginning dungeon ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blows.

Pros:
+It has funny and sometimes 4th wall breaking dialogue.
+Interesting side quests.
+Characters are actual people, not just some piece of cardboard with bloodbags taped to the back. Except for the filler NPCs who are basically cardboard just there to fill in streets.
+Story's pretty neat.
+Good ambient sounds to bring the place to life.

Additional thingazoos:
Graphics are bad, but no ♥♥♥♥, it's a relatively old game, do you honestly expect cutting edge dirt graphics?
There's no soundtrack like the Bethesda Age of the series, so you should probably put some backround music on if you want.

If you don't mind the horrible gameplay (Which you may find the gameplay more enjoyable than I did!) you should definitely buy this. I do reccomend you wait until it's on sale though.

90 hour edit: this game is good i like it
