Game's alright. It's had a few decent content updates in the past four years, and I can't keep myself from coming back to it every once in a while. The business model is exemplary, the developers are passionate and committed, and the community itself isn’t too shabby.

Quality pick-up-and-play game. Great fun for short sessions as matches usually only last 2-8 minutes. Monetisation is done superbly, and the game is really generous in giving out rewards.

It's got less RNG than Hearthstone. Can't recommend enough!

CS:GO Review
A true classic. It is certainly not perfect, but despite how often I complain about its faults, it will always have a special place in my heart. That said, I really wish Valve would implement some higher levels of difficulty. I do realise that everyone cannot be expected to reach my skill level, but as it currently stands, the game is way too easy for someone of my calibre.

High probability of banter, but be warned—some individuals cannot handle it. I would strongly advise anyone considering to pick the game up, to first consult a medical professional and get checked for banter intolerance.

UPDATE: I am altering the review. Pray I do not alter it any further.

Good game, but sadly I cannot recommend it. The anti-cheat system is atrocious and hackers can ban you from playing online by just hitting you. The anti-cheat system likely won't be fixed as the previous entries in the series has had similiar problems, and the developer has done little to nothing about it.

Early Access Review
Interstellar Marines is a highly ambitious tactical FPS, promising a unique co-op experience with roleplaying and nonlinear gameplay. According to the developers, the game is heavily influenced by the likes of Half Life, System Shock 2 and Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield and will have a heavy focus on realistic science fiction. Interstellar Marines has been in ongoing development for a very long time and the team have been subjected to quite a few complications. Zero Point Software has had to overcome some obstacles along the way, such as having to change game engine mid-development, filing for bankruptcy, as well as failing to reach their Kickstarter Campaign goal of $600,000.

At the time of the publication of this review, Interstellar Marines is in Steam Early Access and is expecting full release in late 2014. The game currently consists only of a multiplayer component, featuring the 'Team Domination' game mode, where the objective is to capture and hold areas within the map to gain points. All of the maps in the game feature a dynamic environment with changing lightning and weather conditions. This is for me the only real differentiator between Interstellar Marines and other FPS games at the moment. The dynamic environment force players to change their play style multiple times throughout the match. One moment, the map might be well lit and players will sprint to the objectives playing very offensively, until suddenly, the map goes completely dark and people will move slowly around using their flashlight sparsely to avoid detection. These sudden changes in player mentality really helps the game in terms of its tactical focus.

While Interstellar Marines' tactical aspect is quite impressive, it still has some fairly major shortcomings. Firstly, the game has yet to receive basic FPS functionality such as crouching and proper sprinting which is kind of odd, considering its long development. The shooting and overall gameplay is extremely barebones and not very satisfying. The assets of the game are fairly limited, and many of the maps are littered with big identical boxes at every corner. Lastly, the game has a very lackluster options menu, with barely any settings at all. Brightness and gamma sliders are not available at current time, which unfortunately for me means that under medium-low light situations my monitor looks absolutely horrible. This might just be a problem I am having, but settings like these should be fairly standard anyway.

All of this can of course be improved as time goes on, considering it's still in Early Access, but I do have my worries as the game is expected to release later this year. The game seems like it's been stuck in progress in the 1,5 years I've been following it, which honestly make me speculate if this game is vaporware.
ZP Software is currently promising a fully fletched story campaign with up to 4 player co-op, roleplaying elements, an open game world, and a customizable arsenal. As you might see, this is a lot of content, of which none exist as of yet. Taking into account that Zero Point Software are a very small development team, it is quite hard to figure out just exactly how they will manage to put out so much content in just under a year.

Whether my speculations are unfound, and the game will end up getting a successful release or not, is up to Zero Point Software. But as it stands, I do have my doubts and will therefore recommend waiting for the game to receive more content before buying into it.
