TL;DR: Fantastical atmosphere, menacing sound design, creepy enemy designs, engaging magic & combat systems and exploration in an interesting, immersive, interconnected world.

I've beaten the main story after about 11 hours while exploring as much as I could. There's still much more to get and I haven't even unlocked all areas of the game. The combat system, while relatively simple, gives the player enough freedom through different weapon types and the ability to switch between 2 weapons via a button. The magic system, explored through obtaining different spells as rings, is very useful, though later in the game not as powerful in combat (in my experience). The stat-based leveling system is perfectly fitting for this type of game and enables some different gameplay styles, although going for Strength+Dex+Speed or Strength+Intelligence+Speed seems to be the path most players will go eventually, as relying purely on magic is not the most viable tactic from my experience.

The game encourages you to explore everything to find new weapons, spells, lore books or secret quests; the immersion into the game world and especially the distinct areas through use of lighting, sound and creature designs is, in my opinion, the biggest strength of this game.

I have never played King's Field or other early FromSoft games, so I would say you do not need the association or any experience in the genre to love this game - though I love early Bethesda RPGs (Morrowind, Daggerfall), which definitely prepared me for the gameplay - "dungeon"-crawling in first perspective, stat-based leveling and different enemy resistances and damage types plus an alien but familiar world like in Morrowind.

I recommend this game to anyone who loves the creepy atmosphere of the Dark Souls games, Dungeon-Crawling and Retro RPGs, but also to just anyone who wants to support an indie dev who created a very unique game experience that you will remember for a long time!

Zeitlos durch die einzigartige Welt, mitreißende Main Story, Immersion in den eigenen Charakter und das überragende Level an Customization und Freiheit.
Für mich das beste RPG, das ich je gespielt habe.

Really fun game to just pop in for 15 minutes late at night - great aesthetics, decent mechanics and very smooth movement reminiscent of games like Mirror's Edge! Worth the price for sure.

One of the things to criticise, which other people have also pointed out already, is that the game is very forgiving and lets you grapple (especially) from a very far distance to save yourself. So maybe spicing up the difficulty wouldn't be too bad!
More variety in the sound department wouldn't hurt either - the songs are pretty nice but get a bit annoying easily.
