Early Access Review
It's amazing, it looks good, it plays amazing. I love everything about it besides an amazingly hard progression. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, just when you thought you're set, another tech gets researched and throws you back into the pit of engineering despair. And once you get overwhelmed, you don't see the point in progressing any futher, closing the game, waiting a while, remembering how good it is and beginning again. I love and hate this game.

I really like this simulator. It's not a game, mind you - at least not yet - so don't go in looking for DEFCON-like experience. You can play it as a super in-depth version of DEFCON, though, but without any conventional battles, so it's straight to DEFCON 1 with you. You can imagine any hypothetical scenario in your head and see it play out. Israel launches nukes against Iran, but then a chain reaction causes several dozen countries to burst in nuclear flames in a matter of hours? Sure. What if the Canadians had this 40 Megaton ICBM and used it to destroy Ohio? How would it go if I use my Pershing II mobile launchers to destroy those silos and prevent a retaliatory strike? What if a Global Thermonuclear War broke out and I hid in a basement of my brick house - would I survive? It's all up to you. Yeah, UI is rough and there are some features that are presen but have no effect or aren't accessible yet. Some are quite 'raw', like sattelites. I wish there was an option to move your forces around, more conventional aspect to wars in general (again, just like in DEFCON). I wish there was more humanitarian and long term global impact to show the horrific consequences of even a 'limited nuclear war'.But even at this early stage of development this simulation has a lot to offer. And I can't wait for what comes next.Everybody dies.

Story, that starts solid and plummets downhill the moment you're forced underground. Really. Dark map segment here is just awful. HL2:EP1's was quite short, intense and interesting. Here it's the opposite. "Flu infection" is a burden and adds absolutely nothing to the gameplay.
Weird gun mechanics. Level design is mediocre at best. Unbalanced and uninteresting bosses.

I've had some fun playing this mod, but I'll never download and play it again.

So many scenarios; such flexibility. If it wasn't for a really shoddy scenarios editor, I'd give this masterpiece a solid 10/10.

Yep, game totally worth your attention, comrade. But it definitely looks 'raw', I guess: UI quite unfriendly and even ugly, as well as the game design at all. 'History' doesn't have enough deepness and variability. Developers really have to put more efforts in the game to make it more complicated and replayable.
Despite all this, I found it enjoyable to spend few hours here, trying to unbury the Soviet economics from Perestroyka-grave, which is really hard if you're not familiar with such sort of things. Leaders, decisions and other "empire's ruler" stuff are good already, so don't be afraid of spending few bucks on this game - it sure will be better in the future.
7,5/10.

You know, this is a top-tier RTS. It's fun to play, it has good visuals, and its soundtrack is legendary. I mean, whoever thought (back in 2004!) that 'epic orchestras' were getting kinda overused, deserves my respect.

'Blitzkrieg' can't hold a candle butt to this game. It's very well thought out, it's full of maps, history and details, as well as interesting missions. Game's a good challenge and I loved every minute of it.

Had a good potential. Was forgotten by the devs an update too early. If you like mods, go play HOI4. If you like war rooms and military maps - come right in, have your piece of 'That f-n' brain-dead AI does stupid things again' pie.

Yeh nah, it's a good game. I enjoy playing it. It's not for everyone, it's flawed; it's ugly and irritating sometimes. It's really limited, especially when it comes to alternative histrory and modding overall. But it's a good game nontheless. I prefer wars here to whatever arcade laser unicorn bullcrаp that is war in HOI4 anytime.
