Early Access Review
This is based on a first play through with 2 rapid save breaking restarts.

Pros
- Novel concept with a combination of underwater and platform/island interactions.
- Smooth rendering.
- A wide variety of items and decorative features.

Cons
- Ranged weapon hit registry is terribly poor due to mesh collision and potential raycast issues. Game breaker for me.
- Lack of search feature for blueprint cross referencing.
- Limited food recipes.
- Recent update removed ability to place player made structure on hostile ground.
- Open World but very scripted story line and progression flow.

Well worth adding to the Library as it can only get better. The devs are dedicated.

Please describe what you liked or disliked about this product:

Liked:- Watery theme, survival game play, balanced rate of progression, quests, side missions, and general activities, multi-player, and a whole host of other dynamics. A very well thought out production from an engaging team.

Disliked:- Breathing apparatus and flippers made of seaweed/goo lack durability. The effort and economics to collect for them and craft is a bit of a chore, unless you are the type of player who specialises in cooking up goo. A next level tier for these items would be useful to allow for more time until the next replacement and also for allowing more exploration in the depths.

...and whether you recommend it to others.
Yes

Please remember to be polite...
Have a pleasant sail.

What works, works well.
What doesn't, can be more than an irritation, and create show stopping episodes.
For example, game physics and collision; the medium rover has a tendency to get stuck, even on smooth and level terrain, and terraforming brings no relief. This issue has been reported for yeeeeeaaaars without resolution. Transport is a major feature of Astroneer and not having a reliable medium rover for latter stage game play is rough. Game physics is what it is and MP interactions can leave you flying across your base out of control as the collisions go wild.

As part of a surprisingly high number of gamers who have been around since the first releases, and were all too familiar with the concept of 'Shareware', this game was a must. It has lived up to expectations and gone beyond; except for the constant crashes to desktop which I waited on a fix for until purchase. In my case, it appears the issue still persists and it appears to be the case for many others. I would hold off if you were still waiting for stability for a fix or the next release, whichever comes first.

A refund request was not accepted as it came beyond the 2 week deadline even though game play time was less than 120 minutes. Waiting for the fix was my very own personal Doom. I hope the bulk of my payment will be invested in quality control measures for the future. See you all for the next release in a few years which I hope will be called 'Doom - Fixing Up Hell'

It does what it says on the box. It is indeed dedicated. If it got any more dedicated, it would need to be called a 7 Days to Die Truly Dedicated Server.

It's like an old piece of chewing gum that keeps getting back its flavor. I have quite a collection of games these days and this ranks way way up there.

I'm having a whale of a time with Buoyancy. The bugs are being purged and updates are bringing expansion content and improvements. My first run through stretched the crew too much and they pretty much abandoned ship. The second run through had everything except the prison, as my crew prefer to put those who had passed away to better use...

Utilize the bridge and platform planks to allow for more fluid movement and leave some open areas to increase efficiency. Cramped areas can make the crew get stuck in a fit of the scurvy shakes.

A lot of fun with a quick turnover that doesn't require hours of farming. Well worth a look.

Project Eagle: A 3D Interactive Mars Base is, as the title suggests, a concept of a potential futuristic land base on the Martian surface. It certainly has its bugs, lack of optimisation, and limitations which is very clearly stated in the FAQ and I entered the programme with that in mind. If you can accept it for what it is, then you'll enjoy a vision of a Martian habitat. Being an interactive base, this project allows you to freely roam over the terrain and visit all of the structures. There is an option that allows you to toggle between the interactive surface and a blueprint mode where you can read about the differing structures and their requisite features. You don't have to be interested in space exploration to enjoy this project but if you are then it will certainly add an instant weighting gain to what you get out of it.

An immersive game offering a lot of sustained fun. As I arrived late to the game, I could also experience a lot of support from a very experienced community. A most worthy addition to the library.

As of Feb 19th, 2019, a very promising start that, as is clearly explained by the Dev. team, certainly needs a lot of work and community input. The first run through sets the basic concept but is little more than that at the moment. As such, I shall start afresh with each periodic major update to check for changes. If you're new to the Subnautica adventure, get the first one and leave this well alone for now. For everyone else, enjoy the slow cumulative ride to completion.
