Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy IX were victims of the same thing by Square-Enix, they were both released after a new generation of consoles arrived, this game being released on the PS2; and FFIX being released on the PSX.
I’m glad that finally these two games were ported to PC, but specially this one; Its just an incredible journey to have in the world of Ivalice, being directed by the same genius from Final Fantasy Tactics, Yasumi Matsuno and with the Co-Direction of Hiroyuki Ito (FFVI and FFIX).

The story is magnificent, at first glance if you’re not the type if guy to pay attention to every single detail in the first playthrough like me; you’re going to have a blast playing it again, we can call it the Game of Thrones from Square, but that could sound really generic; the main characters have complicated relation web that it’s not easy to digest at first, especially with all the things going on like; politics, magic, “nuclear magic weapons” and even the will from the Gods beyond human perception. This is only a glance of what the story can get to. (The only character that doesn’t stand out is Penelo; but there is an explanation for that that I’ll not proceed to break down)

It’s so fun to work with the Gambit and Job system; this adds a complete new experience in every single playthrough and such mechanics can be game-breaking, but that’s something you wont have to worry about; the Trial Mode adds a really big challenge to the game with bosses that are not beatable with only the end-game weapons or the top tier job combinations; it really asks you to take the strategy to the next level in order to actually beat them.
The music is phenomenal, if Nobuo Uematsu had a baby with John Williams; it would be Hitoshi Sakimoto with no doubt. The score can go from something really epic, to a middle eastern theme, to Gregorian chants. Every time I was listening to the game, the music just hypnotized me.

I could really go on with even more details, to make it short; I’ve played all of the Final Fantasy games and I cannot tell you which one is the best, but there is something for sure; this game is a really good candidate for that; I’m glad to know the world of Ivalice created by Matsuno-san, I recommend this game from the bottom of my heart.
